The National Tunnels Authority, a government authority under the Egyptian Ministry of Transport, and Siemens Mobilite signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with local companies Orascom Construction SAE. and Arab Contractors (Osman Ahmed Osman & Co.) - To design, install and commission Egypt's first high-speed rail transportation system. Additionally, Siemens Mobility will provide maintenance services. The agreement covers a rail system with a network of 460 km, the first being a 1000 km high speed line.
