KESK's privatization protest at the train station

KESK protest against the privatization of the railway station: United Transport Workers' Unions in Sivas (BTS), members of the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) steps towards the privatization of the railway station to protest.

BTS members affiliated to the Confederation of Public Workers Unions (KESK) departed from Van on November 17 with the slogan 'We are marching against the privatization practices of the railways'. The group, who came to Sivas yesterday evening, walked on the rails for a while and chanted various slogans with the banner they carried at noon today. The group then met with members of their union's Sivas Branch at the train station.

BTS Headquarters Manager and Financial Secretary Erdal Uysal, who read the press release in front of the train station on behalf of the group of about 25 people, said that their march, which started on November 17 in Balıkesir, Istanbul, Van, Gaziantep and Zonguldak stations, will end in Ankara on November 24 in front of the TCDD General Directorate. Stating, “The coming process will be a process in which the coming period will be more troublesome in many aspects, there will also be many problems for the railway drivers regarding their working conditions and their acquired rights will be damaged. For this reason, in the light of all these facts, we took this decision under the name of 'We are marching against the privatization practices of railways' in order to create public opinion about the negative conditions we are in, inform the society and show our reaction, and today Sivas is a branch of the march that started on the railways. We continue our walk ”.

After the announcement, the group moved to Kayseri by train to continue its walk.
