President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, announced that the Railway Infrastructure Capacity Directive, agreed upon with the European Union (EU) Council this morning, aims to improve the quality of service in rail transport across the EU, strengthen reliability and improve cross-border coordination.
In his statement on social media, Metsola said, “Better service, higher reliability and stronger cross-border coordination. The Railway Infrastructure Capacity Directive, which we agreed on with the European Union Council this morning, aims to provide exactly this.”
Thanking the President of the European Parliament Transport Committee, Elena Kountoura (vozemberg), Rapporteur Tilly Metz and the European Parliament team, Metsola emphasized that the regulation is an important step that will optimize the use of the EU railway network.
