The most glorious train ride in the world

The most gaudy train journey in the world: Welcomed kings, carried spies, looted and burned… Books were written, movies were shot, fame was added to its fame…
The first route from Paris to 1883 was accompanied by feasts and the train route was Istanbul. The Orient Express promised an unprecedented luxury journey to its passengers. The wagons, which were surprised by their guests according to the conditions of those years, were carefully decorated from the walnut furniture made of the masters of woodwork to the silk sheets, from the crystal glasses next to the silver dinner sets, to the leather bar chairs. The difference from the train to the five star hotel was that it was walking on the rails.
This grace was able to attract the attention of the nobles of Europe in a short time. The first tastes of the tickets on the black market were high-ranking soldiers, diplomats and rich traders. The train soon became the subject of curiosity, wrapped in the language of the society.
TWO BIRD WITH A STONE
The project, which requires serious investment, was carried out by Georges Nagelmackers, the son of the engineer of a Belgian banker, called Wagons-Lits. Initially, the train had been laid from Paris to Varna. The journey from Istanbul to the harbor continued with steam ships.
The King of Belgium, 2. He understood that he was going to earn money from the Ottoman lands, and when he ascended the throne he started working for the railway. Even though Orient Express was known as Wagon-Lits, the man behind the project was the king.
In addition to the luxury voyage he offered to his guests, his valuable trade goods in cargo wagons had been a good opportunity for Europe not to crawl on shopping. The Orient Express managed to make traders and traders happy.
EKSPRESTEN HERITAGE PERA PALAS
After the 3 day trip, guests coming to Istanbul were welcomed at the Luxembourg Hotel. The spoiled passengers of the Orient were not happy with the situation. Therefore, construction of the hotel was started in Tepebaşı, which overlooks the magnificent view of the Golden Horn. The operators opened the Pera Palas Hotel, which has the high standards of Orient Express, with its glorious celebrations. 1895 was the first electrical building after the Ottoman palaces, and Istanbul society met the first electric elevator. There was also no hot water flowing in another hotel. It was able to attract attention in a short time, and hosted many important names for many years.
WHO WERE COME, WHO WERE
Kings, aside from the commanders, the world-famous German spy Mata Hari and the British spy Lawrence were among the passengers. Agatha Christie started her famous novel 'Homicide in the Orient Expression' on the train, and ended up at Pera Palace. The murder of the American passenger, the British detective Hercule Poirot's skills were very hard. Three different feature films were produced from this book and took their place among world classics. Alfred Hitchcock, one of the best directors of all time, was inspired by the famous British writer Henry Graham Greene. James Bond, played by Sean Connery, was another hero on the train. Sherlock Holmes and many more characters ate bread from the train.
Hitler's fear of the train
1. At the end of World War II, French and British officials headed by Marshal Foch, 2419 numbered 1918 in the Compiegne forest, signed a cease-fire with German representatives. This event at XNUMX meant victory for the French. The wagon was first exhibited at Invalides and then retreated to the museum.
2. In the world war, the Germans entered Paris (1940). By the order of Hitler the wagon was taken out of its display. In 1918 the negotiation was brought to the signed place. Adolf Hitler had the French General Charles Huntziger and his crew sign a truce again. Then the 2419 wagon was taken to the German museum. The result was 1-1. The Germans had their revenge.
