Critical Test Flight from Bayraktar KIZILELMA - RaillyNews

Bayraktar KIZILELMA Unmanned Combat Aircraft (UCAV) performed an important flight in which critical systems were tested. During this test flight, KIZILELMA flew together with the MURAD AESA Radar and TOYGUN Electro Optical Sensor System developed by ASELSAN for the first time. More advanced versions of these systems are also planned to be used in the National Fighter Aircraft KAAN.

MURAD AESA Radar: Air Warfare Game Changer

MURAD 100-A is a state-of-the-art multifunctional fire control radar with AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Antenna Array) technology, which is vital for today’s fighter aircraft.

Architecture and Capabilities: Featuring agile electronic beam steering capability thanks to its AESA architecture, the MURAD 100-A offers simultaneous air-to-air and air-to-ground engagement capabilities.

Air Superiority: The radar plays a game-changing role in air warfare by combining air-to-air engagement capability with Beyond Visual Visibility (BVR) missile guidance capability. Thanks to its ability to be integrated into KIZILELMA, it is indispensable for operational superiority, given the increasing role of unmanned aerial vehicles in the battlefield.

TOYGUN Advanced Electro Optical Reconnaissance and Targeting System

TOYGUN Electro Optical Sensor System, which performed its first flight together with MURAD AESA, is also being developed by ASELSAN.

Imaging Features: TOYGUN has a 1280×1024 resolution IR (Infrared) imaging system and laser designator operating in the MWIR band. It supports high resolution with image enhancement methods (fog / haze / atmospheric effect removal, super resolution, turbulence corrector).

Mission Areas and Sensitivity: The system, which can be used in missions such as air-air combat, air-ground combat, reconnaissance, surveillance and targeting, can measure laser distance up to 35 km. It has advanced features such as Automatic Target Detection (OHA), Single/Multiple Target Tracking and 2 Axis Mechanical 2 Axis Optical Stabilisation. The coordinates of the tracked targets can be precisely determined with the Internal GPS Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) External ANS.

This successful test flight has once again proved KIZILELMA’s ability to expand its future mission range and the Turkish aerospace industry’s capability in indigenous technology integration.
