Buca Metro Map and Buca Metro Route: İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, which made an official request to the Presidency for three times to include the Buca Metro in the investment program, which will significantly relieve İzmir traffic, received the approval it expected from Ankara. Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer said, "I would like to thank the President of the Republic, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for the approval of the project to be included in the investment program."

Making a statement about this very important development regarding Buca Metro, Tunç Soyer said, “Our request was just a signature, and we are starting to work immediately with his arrival. We will resolve the necessary financing through international credit, without demanding a single penny from the state budget. We aim to complete the financing negotiations in about six months, go on international tenders and start construction in 2020. We will open the subway within five years. Izmir residents will reach Buca with the comfort of the subway and thus, we will take an important step in our public transportation target that will spread throughout the city. ”

28 December 2017 was approved by the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. The project was awaiting the approval of the Ministry of Development and the Presidency of Strategy and Budget. Since the approval of the Presidency was required for the investments to be realized with international credit, the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality could not bid for this tender before the “consent” came from Ankara.
