Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is rising rapidly

Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is rising rapidly: Minister Elvan said that the tower heights of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge are 195,5 meters on the Asian side and 198,5 meters on the European side.

Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Lütfi Elvan said that the tower heights of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, which will be the 3rd Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul, reached 195,5 meters on the Asian side and 198,5 meters on the European side.

Minister Elvan, in a statement to the AA correspondent, stated that the works on the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, which will allow the national and international transit traffic, which significantly affects Istanbul traffic, to be taken out of Istanbul, are continuing rapidly.

Elvan stated that they want to put Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge into service until the end of 2015 and that they continue to work in 3 shifts within this scope.

“A total of 5 thousand 110 employees are working to bring this project to the date we promised and bring it to our country. We are ahead of our calendar with the outstanding efforts of our staff. We have already completed the excavation works. Our towers are also rising rapidly. As of today, the tower heights reached 195,5 meters on the Asian side and 198,5 meters on the European side. When completed, it will be the suspension bridge with the highest tower in the world with a height of more than 321 meters. The new silhouette of Istanbul will be shaped by Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge. "

It will be integrated with Marmaray

Pointing out that especially the railway foot of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is of great importance, Elvan said, “Uninterrupted railway transportation from Edirne to Izmit will be possible with the railway that will cross the bridge. In this way, the whole region will be economically revived with the new commercial area to be formed in the north of Marmara and Istanbul. This rail system will be integrated with Marmaray and Istanbul Metro and will connect Atatürk Airport, Sabiha Gökçen Airport and Istanbul New Airport ”.
