In order not to flood the Marmaras

In order not to flood the Marmara: The cause of the flood that had raided Üsküdar for days was revealed. Disaster Specialist Dr. Kubilay Kaptan said, "Rain water and drain pipes were closed to prevent Marmaray from flooding." In the meantime, the municipality started work in Üsküdar Square yesterday and added new pipes and 5 loopholes for rainwater drainage.

Rainfall for a week continues to affect life negatively. Uskudar flooded due to interesting images emerged. Sea waters combined with land waters.

Speaking about the floods in Uskudar Disaster Expert Yar. Assoc. Dr. Kubilay Captain, Marmaray said that these images emerged so that the water does not flood. The captain continued as follows; “In Üsküdar, there is a high probability that the sea will swell and flood the roads during heavy rains. In addition, the number of manhole in this region is low. Since manhole widths are not sufficient, water cannot be drained quickly. The biggest problem here is Marmaray. Because it is very risky to flood the tunnels with advanced technology such as Marmaray. Therefore, the manhole and rainwater drain pipes on the upper parts of Marmaray were closed. The goal was to prevent flooding. Water could not be drained adequately because other infrastructure systems were inadequate. ”

FIVE GRADES ADDED

On the other hand, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Coordination Department and Road Maintenance and Repair Directorate had intensive work in Üsküdar Square yesterday. New lines to facilitate the evacuation of water and 5 loopholes in addition to the existing loopholes were added to the square.
