Zet Reducer attracts the attention of the world with its special gears: Zet Gearbox, one of the most important names of the sector with its gear sets produced for trains, became one of the three suppliers in the world of gear and gearbox. We had a talk with Ahmet Özyazıcı, Zet Reducer Factory Manager, about the special gears produced by their companies and their projects for the sector.

Can you get information about Zet Redüktör's product range, production capacity and the technological equipment you use in production?
The introduction of ZET Gearbox to the rail systems sector started with 2011 at the Hannover Messe fair, where the Spanish CAF, which also made high-speed trains in our country, visited our booth. At the end of the negotiations, the company started to visit us after the gear and gear box manufacturing demanded from us. Since then, we have become one of the three suppliers of CAF in the world. Of course, these products really want information, knowledge and technology. If you do not have a good technological infrastructure, it is very difficult to run in this lane. As a gear design program, we have the KISSSOFT program of Swiss origin. In addition, all gear and gear boxes are manufactured in CNC machine tools. Our CNC gear profile grinding capabilities up to 1.000 mm are more than enough for this sector. In addition, the ability to measure the gears we produce is the most important factor in choosing the CAF.
You produce gear sets for trains. Technical characteristics of your gears, what are the projects used?
The gear sets we produce for trains are really special. Manufacture and test methods from the threaded profiles require a number of special processes. Once threaded profiles are very different from other gears. In the literature, the so-called protuberance profile is preferred. A separate gearshift knife is designed and supplied for each gear. Gear manufacturing is done with these. The teeth are definitely not stoned. Consequently, the tooth life is much longer and the risk of deforming and breaking of teeth is minimized. Of course, these issues will take pages when you go down to the theory of work. There are a lot of technical details, but these gears are really special.
Rail systems, especially high-speed trains; sectors that will not remove the error. In this context, what do you pay attention to your gear production? As a company that provides services to this sector, what are you focusing on R & D studies?
If human life is entering the business, there is no room for error in this work. Once you supply the gear material, the heat treatment you make, your production methods and their control, they have to be extremely precise and precise. We use material with the standard 18CrNiMo7-6 as gear material. During the production of these gears, we apply 3 type heat treatment as isothermal annealing, cementation and subzero. MPI (Magnetic Particle Test) crack control and Nital tests are performed at the last check of the gears. As far as I know in Turkey for us is no need for any other gear manufacturers are making nital test. Gear materials as they enter the production of eggs in special containers in the process of manufacturing continues. Because, during and after manufacturing, a track gear, which can be as large as the head of a pin, causes scrap to be scraped. Eskişehir Railway Systems Cluster as a member rail projects in Turkey, how do you evaluate the role of local companies in these projects?
In accordance with a decision taken on October 11 2012 National Railway Project was initiated in Turkey. Within the scope of this project; High Speed Train, New Generation Diesel Train Set (DMU), New Generation Electric Train Set (EMU) and New Generation Cargo Cars are intended to be produced with minimum 51 locality ratio. Within the scope of this project, cooperation has been realized with institutions such as ITU, TUBITAK and ASELSAN.
The experiences of the companies established in the first years of our Republic as TÜLOMSAŞ, TÜVASAŞ and TÜDEMSAŞ, are the advantages of these companies. However, the fact that they could not keep up with the technologic era is a disadvantage. However, I think that this disadvantage can be turned into advantage with domestic private companies that have caught up with technology. Besides, I think that will play a role in terms of private sector in Turkey will have them next to the main sectors of the industry in the number of firms potentially serious sex will be ignored.
