I would like to thank all our brothers and sisters for their sensitivity. Our damage assessment teams have started work to complete the building damage quickly, hopefully within 2-3 days. Most of our citizens who were treated were discharged. 4 of our citizens continue to be treated at the hospital. I hope they will regain their health soon," he said.

“4.3 aftershocks with a magnitude of 138 occurred”

Minister Murat Kurum talked about the intensity of the earthquake and said, “4.3 aftershocks with a magnitude of 138 occurred. Our biggest consolation is that we did not lose any lives in these earthquakes. Hopefully, we will carry out the whole process together with our citizens in cooperation. At the moment, damage assessment works on the field have been started on the one hand. On the other hand, our AFAD and Red Crescent carry out work to meet the shelter and food needs of our citizens, under the coordination of our governorship. There is no damage to our dormitories. All public buildings, our schools, our hospitals were inspected. There are partially damaged public buildings. Public services will be provided here after the renovations regarding those buildings. Our governorship will carry out this coordination. Apart from that, after ensuring the safety of our children, our governor will be carrying out this process by informing our citizens.” he said.

“As of today, almost 95 percent of our city will be powered by electricity”

Minister Kurum said that most of the citizens were out due to the precautionary measure and said, “As of today, almost 95 percent of our city will be powered by electricity. We will be carrying out the water supply business by completing those damages as of tonight, without cutting the water. The natural gas and electricity supply process will also be carried out in coordination in the settlements where there is no damage that we have determined. On the other hand, there is property damage other than building damage. Our Governor's Office has also started the determination of property damage within the body of our Revenue Office. Hopefully, the damage to the goods will be detected in a short time. And depending on the damage, our AFAD will have managed this process by helping our citizens, as it did in previous earthquakes. As in every earthquake, we will do the same in Düzce as we did in Elazığ, Malatya and İzmir.” said.

“To date, we have provided the transformation of approximately 3.2 million residences all over Turkey”

The Minister Institution stated that thanks to the urban transformation and building inspection systems implemented since 2000, there has not been much damage in the earthquake in Düzce today and said, “The reason why the damage was not much is that 75 percent of the building stock here was built in accordance with the earthquake regulations after the earthquake. We have to learn to live with the earthquake. About 70 percent of our population, our lands, live in earthquake zones. We have lost 80 lives in earthquakes so far. In this sense, we are carrying out this struggle resolutely, increasing this awareness day by day, together with the urban transformation works we have carried out all over Turkey within the framework of the instructions of our President. To date, we have provided the transformation of approximately 3.2 million residences all over Turkey. In this context, I hope we will continue to carry out the earthquake process in the best way possible with the social housing we will build and the gathering areas in the national gardens. With our TOKİ, we had previously purchased 6 houses in Düzce. Within the scope of these residences, our citizens live in their homes in safety. We promised 728 residences in Düzce within the scope of 250 social housing units that we will build again. We are realizing the construction of these houses as soon as possible. We have also presented our 1100 residential plots to the opportunity of our citizens. Thankfully, we will be carrying out this process together with our citizens.” he said.

We will heal the wounds of Düzce together

Minister Murat Kurum, explaining the support that will be given to the district municipalities to provide good service to the citizens after the earthquake, said, “We provided a total of 1 million liras in aid to our Gölyaka, Gümüşova, Çilimli and Cumayeri municipalities, 4 million lira each after the disaster. It will be credited to their accounts tomorrow by our General Directorate of Iller Bank and hopefully it will continue to meet the needs of our citizens with our district municipalities. The main thing here is to make damage assessments quickly and to meet the food, shelter and heating needs of our citizens. Hopefully, we will continue our struggle together both before and after the earthquake. We will be with our citizens. Our state will never take its hand off our citizens here and we will heal the wounds of all 85 million Düzce together. The fight against earthquakes is as important as the fight against terrorism. used his statements.
