Biological and Biotechnical Control Supports in Plant Production Announced

The amounts and application dates for the biological and biotechnical control supports given by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in order to reduce the use of chemicals in plant production have been determined.

The Ministry's Biological and/or Biotechnical Control Support Payment Implementation Communiqué in Plant Production was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

With the Communiqué, the procedures and principles regarding the payment of support payments to producers engaged in biological and/or biotechnical control in order to reduce the use of chemical pesticides and to protect human health and natural balance through the application of alternative control techniques in herbal production were regulated.

In the communique, the products included in the scope of support and the amount of payment in plant production under cover and in open field were also included.

Accordingly, the amount of support will be 850 lira per decare under cover (package) and 290 lira per decare in open area (package).

In greenhouse tomato, pepper, eggplant, cucumber and zucchini production, 700 lira per decare will be given for biological control, 150 lira for producers using pheromones and traps, 70 lira for those who only use pheromones in biotechnical control.

In citrus, 140 lira per decare for biological control, 150 lira for pheromone and trap use in biotechnical control, 60 lira for pheromone use only.

Within the scope of biotechnical struggle in open tomato production, 70 liras will be paid per decare for the use of pheromones and traps, and 45 liras will be paid for the use of pheromones only.

In Narda, 140 liras will be paid per decare for biological control and 150 liras will be paid for biotechnical control.

The amount of support was determined as 135 lira for apple, vineyard, apricot, quince, pear, 60 lira for olive, 150 lira per decare for peach and nectarine for biotechnical struggle.

APPLICATION DATES

Support applications will be made until 2022 November 18 for apricot, quince, pear, apple, vineyard, open tomato, olive, citrus, pomegranate, peach and nectarine for 2022 application, and until 31 December 2022 for greenhouses.

For 2023 applications, applications will be received on a product basis as of January 1, 2023. The deadline for applications is 23 June 2023 for apples, vineyards and apricots, 22 September 2023 for tomatoes and olives in the open, 27 October 2023 for citrus, peach, nectarines, quince, pears and pomegranates, and 31 December 2023 for greenhouses.

2-YEAR PLANNING

With the Communiqué, hesitations about renewing the support every year were eliminated and a 2-year (2022-2023) planning was made.

Unit prices were increased to cover approximately 27-66% of the struggle cost. In this framework, an increase of 2022-8% was achieved in unit prices in 100.
