One vacant membership in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the Radio and Television Supreme Council; Mete Hacıarifoğlu was elected from the AK Party quota.

In the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, an election was held for the RTÜK membership, which was vacated after Taha Yücel, who was elected from the AK Party quota, resigned.

For the vacant membership, the AK Party announced Batuhan Mumcu and Mete Hacıarifoğlu, while the IYI Party announced Meral Akşener Press Advisor Murat İde and journalist Çiğdem Akdemir as candidates.

However, in the voting held today, the names of the candidates of the IYI Party Group were not put to the vote.

An election was held between the two candidates of the AK Party Group for a vacant membership in the Supreme Council. In the voting, Mete Hacıarifoğlu was elected as the new RTÜK member with 243 votes. Batuhan Mumcu received 4 votes. 5 votes were blank.

Who is Mete Hacıarifoğlu?

He was born in August 1973 in Karabuk. He graduated from Şükrü Balcı Police Vocational School in 1997. He graduated from Anadolu University Open Education Faculty Public Relations and Publicity Department in 2012 and Anadolu University Faculty of Economics Public Administration Department in 2018.

He served as a police officer in the General Directorate of Security between 1996-2003. Between 2003 and 2009, he was appointed to the expert staff of RTÜK. Between 2009 and 2013, he worked as a temporary staff at the Ministry for EU Affairs. He then returned to RTÜK; Since 2013, he has served as the Deputy Private Secretary in the research staff.
