The Opening Ceremony of the 2000 Village Life Center was held at Beştepe National Congress and Culture Center with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Vice President Fuat Oktay, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişci.

In his speech at the ceremony, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that he sees the Village Life Centers, which were inaugurated, as one of the strategic moves that "bring together tradition and the future in education". President Erdoğan said, “With our Village Life Centers, we not only breathe new life into education, but we also prepare our children for tomorrow's Turkey."

Expressing that he believes that the vocational and technical courses and cultural and artistic activities to be given in Village Life Centers will add a new dynamism to the villages, President Erdoğan stated that the Ministry of National Education, which is leading the project, which is a great gain for the education community, and the Ministry of Interior and Agriculture and Forestry that support it. congratulated him.

Wishing success to the children who receive education in Village Life Centers and to the teachers who raise them to be benevolent people to the homeland, the nation and their families, Erdoğan thanked each of the teachers who carry out their duty as a homeland beyond an ordinary civil service for their efforts and sacrifices.

“We gave the biggest share of all budgets to education and training”

Recalling that they promised to build Turkey on four main pillars when they assumed the responsibility of governing the country 20 years ago, and placed education first, President Erdoğan said:

“We put health behind it. Then we said justice and security. We have accomplished all four of these pillars. Then we said transportation, we said energy, we said agriculture, we said diplomacy. We have implemented all of these one by one. Thanks to all the promises we made to our nation in the intervening 20 years, we have also implemented them. Notice that the biggest share of all budgets was on the defense when we arrived. But then which unit did we put in first place? We have established education. Because you cannot raise the youth in that country until education becomes stronger and education does not pave the way for our children. That's what we accomplished. Education now comes first. Health is behind it. There is justice, there is security. We got our education budget from seven and a half billion liras per year. As of last year, we increased it to 304 billion liras. The resources allocated to education in our 2023 budget, which are currently being negotiated, reach 651 billion liras in total. We have completely changed the face of our schools with its library, laboratories, gymnasiums, workshops and other facilities. With a total of 750 thousand new appointments, we have increased the number of teachers to over 1 million, and we have also caught the OECD average in the number of students per educator. We strengthened equality of opportunity in education by meeting all the basic needs of our students from textbooks to supplementary resources. Instead of the ideological education curriculum that formats students, we have dominated a libertarian model that aims to discover the talents of our children. We provided our children with the opportunity to learn about their culture, belief and civilization values from an early age with elective courses, including the Holy Quran and the Siyer-i Nebi. While some were preventing our girls from going to school for reasons that smelled of fascism, we removed these barriers at all levels.”

“The schooling rate of our girls in secondary education is 90 percent”

Pointing out that the 5-year-old schooling rate has increased from 11 percent to 97 percent with investments in pre-school education, President Erdoğan said, “The schooling rate of our girls in secondary education, which was 39 percent before us, has reached 90 percent.” he said. President Erdoğan said that while they reach children and youth with their formal education activities, they also open the doors of education to 85 million people with their non-formal education activities.

Pointing out that they contribute to the lifelong learning processes of citizens in many fields from literacy campaigns to vocational courses, from social-cultural activities to family education, Erdoğan said: “We are very pleased with the intense interest shown by our women in our vocational and public education courses. The Family School Project, which my husband also supports, meets an important need in today's world when threats to the family institution are increasing.” made its assessment. Erdoğan explained that he found the studies carried out on subjects such as transferring national and spiritual values to students, establishing healthy relationships within the family, home management and guiding students were very valuable.

Underlining that the participation of more than 400 thousand citizens in the Family School Project since March has shown that the nation has embraced the issue, Erdoğan said, “Hopefully, we will continue to protect the family institution both through legislative arrangements and through such projects.” said.

Disused village school buildings became active education units

President Erdoğan said that they turned the unused village school buildings into kindergartens, primary schools and public education centers and turned them into active education units. Pointing out that they carry out a wide range of programs from general, vocational and technical courses to agriculture, horticulture, forestry, agricultural technologies, food and animal husbandry at Village Life Centers, Erdoğan said that 8 thousand 507 courses opened in villages and Village Life Centers this year. He reported that 72 thousand 122 citizens, 664 of whom were women, participated.

All 6 thousand 970 village schools, which are closed, will be opened

The number of village life centers, such as primary schools, kindergartens, public education centers, designed as places where both children and parents will receive education together, reached 2000 by reopening village schools that were not actively used.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Vice President Fuat Oktay, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişci and Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, as well as national education directors of 81 provinces and headmen from all over Turkey attended the ceremony.

Live connections were made to Aydın Yenipazar Ali Kuşçu Mathematics House and Village Life Center, Sakarya Serdivan Uzunköy Village Life Center, Bingöl Merkez Kuruca Village Life Center, Trabzon Akcaabat Mother Earth Village Life Center. After the prayer of the Vice President of Religious Affairs Kadir Dinç, the opening ribbon of 2000 village life centers, which will be the heart of the villages, was cut.
