In Turkey in general and in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), a "grab trap" exercise was held at 12:1999 on the occasion of the anniversary of the 18.57 November XNUMX Düzce Earthquake.
Within the scope of the exercise, which was implemented for the first time across the country, a "Vital Warning Notification" sent to the mobile phones of all citizens at 18.57, a sound warning was made in Turkish and English.
Messages were broadcast on television and radio channels, and the citizens made the gesture of “hold the snag trap” in the predetermined solid and safe area during the exercise.
Announcements from the Information Retrieval and Dissemination System (HAY) were broadcast over mosque and municipality loudspeakers. During the exercise, the sirens were not sounded so that the citizens would not panic.
Before the exercise, our Minister, Mr. Süleyman Soylu participated in the live broadcast link from Düzce, İstanbul, İzmir, Elazığ, Kahramanmaraş, Erzurum and TRNC for the exercise managed by the Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD) Center and received information from the governor and AFAD provincial administrators.
In the live connection with Düzce, Provincial Mufti Rüstem Can prayed for those who lost their lives in the earthquake on 12 November 1999.
Before the exercise, AFAD President Yunus Sezer gave information about the exercise.
When the earthquake warning was issued at 18.57, the participants both in the center of AFAD and in the provinces to which the connection was made, made the collapse trap hold movement. Meanwhile, within the scope of the exercise, information on what to do during and after the disaster was shared at the stands and vehicles in the garden of the AFAD Center where information was given on disaster management.

Due to the 23rd anniversary of the earthquake, information was given about the exercise in the area prepared by the Düzce Governor's Office in Anıtpark Square.

Our Minister Mr. Duzce Governor Cevdet Atay, whom Soylu promised, said that they commemorate those who lost their lives in the earthquake that passed 23 years ago.
Stating that it is important for them to carry out the exercise all over Turkey at the time of the Düzce earthquake, Atay said, “All Düzce is ready for the exercise held at the time of the earthquake.” said.
AK Party Headquarters Women's Branch Chair and Düzce Deputy Ayşe Keşir noted that despite the years since the earthquake, the pain is still fresh.
The event continued with the prayer of Provincial Mufti Rüstem Can. Recep Tayyip Erdogan's video message was published on the platform.
AK Party Düzce Deputy Fahri Çakır, MHP Düzce Deputy Ümit Yılmaz, Mayor Faruk Özlü, representatives of non-governmental organizations, relatives of those who lost their lives in the earthquake and citizens attended the event.
On the other hand, citizens throughout the city participated in the exercise in areas such as mosques, houses, shopping centers and tea houses.
