Russians flocked to Bodrum

BODER Secretary General and Bodrium Hotel & SPA General Manager Yiğit Girgin said that the number of Russian tourists in Bodrum increased by 74 percent compared to the previous year and reached the level of 160 -170 thousand.

Yiğit Girgin, Secretary General of BODER and General Manager of Bodrium Hotel & SPA, stated that Turkey had a successful tourism season and said that this trend will continue in 2023.

Expressing that especially Russia and central European countries' demands for Istanbul, Antalya and Bodrum have increased, Girgin noted that Turkey continues to grow as an important destination in the sector.

Reminding that foreign tourists show interest in our country for the winter season after the summer season, Yiğit Girgin said, “We left behind a successful summer season. We continue to receive demand from abroad during the winter months as well. As a result of the studies, we feel the effects of the post-pandemic recovery positively. It is a pleasing situation for the sector. There is still a strong season for Istanbul and Antalya regions. Even though the occupancy rates in Bodrum have slowed down as of November, I think the demands will continue for both health and sports tourism," he said.

Noting that the Russian tourist demand to Bodrum increased by 74 percent compared to the previous year, Girgin gave the following information: “Turkey is one of Russia's favorite countries. Antalya is like their second home. This increase in demand for Antalya also positively affects other tourism cities such as Bodrum. The number of Russian tourists in Bodrum increased by 74 percent compared to the previous year and reached the level of 160 -170 thousand. Investments in Bodrum are increasing. Bodrum has made a name for itself in the luxury and boutique segment. As a result of the abolition of international flight restrictions and the promotions made, the international demands for Bodrum tend to increase. 2022 should not be evaluated as the period before and after the pandemic. Since then, new hotel investments have been made; The number of facilities and beds has also increased. This increase in demand in the central European and Russian markets will continue in 2023.”
