Doctor Calendar specialist Psk. Serhat Özmen gave important information about panic disorder. Panic disorder, which affects 100 out of every 4 people in Turkey at a level that requires treatment, is expressed as an attack of sudden onset of fear and avoidance. Sometimes this distress can be accompanied by different organs of the body such as the heart, head and intestines. The body, which was calm before the attacks, turns into a tired body after the attack, which has difficulty in discharging. Stating that panic disorder attacks can last from 1 to 15 minutes and can be seen more than once in the same day, Psk. Serhat Özmen said, “Most panic disorder patients go to the ED frequently, suffer a lot, suffer from a sense of loneliness and fear that something will happen to them at any moment. Sometimes it is not possible for even the closest relatives to understand the emotions experienced by panic attack sufferers. Because intense, sudden, and recurrent situations make the body a puppet of insecurity,” she says.

Stating that there are many symptoms of panic disorder, Psk. Serhat Özmen lists these symptoms as follows:

“Heating-cooling sensation in the head of the person, drowsiness, dizziness, irritability and facial flushing can be seen. The person may feel as if they are suffocating. There may be tremors and difficulty in breathing. The person may be frightened or even terrified, act out of control and feel as if they are going crazy, or even have a fear of death. In addition to these, indigestion or discomfort in the stomach, inability to relax or convulsions, numbness-tingling, numbness-tingling, feelings of numbness, feeling of being hit with a pencil, fatigue, exhaustion, alienation, inability to convince oneself, efforts to seek a safe place, sensitivity to surrounding diseases are other symptoms of panic disorder. among them.”

Stating that panic disorder is also associated with other anxiety-producing conditions, Psk. Serhat Özmen, uncertainty (Panic disorder is a quality that both reveals and sustains), breaking of ties, (Fear of the possibility of breaking ties with someone or something important), the inner world under extreme criticism, fear of falling behind in competition, fear of being persecuted , fear of separation, genes, family anxiety patterns (family where the mother is anxious), biological conditions, medical complications and traumas are among the most important causes of this disease.

Underlining that personality traits can cause panic disorder, Psk. Serhat Özmen explains this situation as follows:

“If a person has perfectionist personality traits, he obviously feels himself caught in the ball and under criticism for perceptions such as faults, mistakes and faults. If he has controlling personality traits, he wants to keep all areas of his life under control. Anger towards parents and the inability to express these angers lead to repression. Psychic traumas produce significant anxiety in the person, when these anxieties are combined with stimulants, there is more intense anxiety. Dysfunctional coping strategies with uncertainty also lead to the exacerbation of the attack, and at the same time it settles into life.”

Stating that it is very critical to examine the symptoms of the person and take a life history by an experienced specialist before the treatment, Psk said. Serhat Özmen said that therapy gave successful results in the treatment of panic disorder.
