Organized for the 23rd time with the support of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, the International Izmir Short Film Festival ended with the Golden Cat Award ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony, President Soyer said, “Our entire aim is to make İzmir one of the important cities where the heart of cinema beats. The International Izmir Short Film Festival, which has been held uninterruptedly for nearly a quarter of a century, is undoubtedly at the forefront of the works that carry us towards this goal.”

The "Golden Cat" awards found their owners at the International Izmir Short Film Festival, supported by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, the Ministry of Culture, the General Directorate of Cinema, the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, the French Cultural Center and Migros. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor attended the ceremony at the IzQ Innovation Center. Tunç Soyer, İzmir Short Film Festival Director Yusuf Saygı, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Barış Karcı, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality bureaucrats, jury members, artists, directors and art lovers.

“We are determined to move forward”

President speaking at the ceremony Tunç Soyer Expressing that Izmir is a city of entrepreneurs, he said, “It has been like this throughout history. So is it today. We are determined to carry the entrepreneurial spirit and people of our city to a much further point in the future. Therefore, it makes me very proud that Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is a supporter of the 23rd International Izmir Short Film Festival. I know that this festival is one of the most important achievements of the entrepreneurial people of İzmir. 23 years! Language is easy. For a quarter of a century, this festival in İzmir continues with a fully professional approach, but also with a volunteer spirit, despite all the difficulties. Our festival, which has the only Oscar Qualification certificate in Turkey, is a source of pride for İzmir entrepreneurship.”

“This evening will also be the beginning of brand new artistic productions”

President Soyer continued: “During its 8500-year history, İzmir has been one of the most enthusiastic art production places in the world. The cinema industry has a very special position to increase this enthusiasm once again. Our entire aim is to make İzmir one of the important cities where the heart of cinema beats. The International Izmir Short Film Festival, which has been held uninterruptedly for nearly a quarter of a century, is undoubtedly at the forefront of the work that has brought us towards this goal. We established the İzmir Cinema Office for the same purpose. Today, the 23rd International Izmir Short Film Festival takes its place in history as a unique work of the harmony culture of the Mediterranean. And I know it's not just a closure. This evening will also be the beginning of brand new artistic productions. It will inspire the world from Izmir for a life in harmony.”

Soyer awarded the “Best Editing” award

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor at the "Golden Cat" award ceremony, where 10 awards were distributed in 22 different categories. Tunç Soyerpresented the award to the producers of the movie “I Am One, You All” in the category of “National Fiction”. 22 awards were given in the night. Within the scope of the festival, more than 300 films met the audience free of charge, workshops and interviews were held.
