WorldSkills, which organizes world championships in the field of professional skills with Japan-based CNC, robot and machine manufacturer FANUC, recently hosted the Robot Systems Integration Competition held in Luxembourg. In the competition where young robot programmers from 11 countries competed, Germany won the gold medal, Taiwan won the silver medal, and Poland won the bronze medal.

FANUC, which strengthens factory automation as the only company that develops and manufactures every important component for hardware and software, continues to support the industry with its collaborations. In this direction, FANUC hosted the Robot Systems Integration Competition in an important collaboration with WorldSkills, which organizes various championships around the world for the development of professional competencies. Young robot programmers from 11 countries participated in the competition held in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. The winner of the competition, which was held for the first time as a newly added part of the large-scale “WorldSkills Competition 15 Special Edition” event, which took place in more than 2022 different venues this year, was Germany and became the owner of the gold medal. Second place Taiwan took the silver medal, and third place Poland got the bronze medal.

FANUC and WorldSkills support for young people's interest in robots

Commenting on their cooperation with WorldSkills and the competition, FANUC Turkey General Manager Teoman Alper Yiğit said, “We wanted to establish a global partnership to encourage young robot programmers, and at this point, WorldSkills' mission and vision made our cooperation possible. The trend towards automation is now advancing in the world and robots are now widely used not only in industrial companies and SMEs, but even in crafts and agriculture. Conversely, there is a shortage of properly trained skilled workers in many countries. As a result of our partnership with WorldSkills, we organized the Robot Systems Integration Competition and robot programming teams from Germany, Austria, France, Hungary, Luxembourg, Poland, England, India, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan participated. Thanks to this organization, we gave young people the opportunity to learn more about robot programming and increased their interest in this field. The next WorldSkills international championship will be held in Lyon, France in 2024. Next year, we will host EuroSkills, a vocational training and skills excellence competition for European participants, in Gdansk, Poland.”
