Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is preparing to introduce the New Amarok, a completely renewed pick-up model that performs well in road and challenging terrain conditions, at the end of 2022.
Designed and developed in Germany and Australia and manufactured in South Africa, the New Amarok will continue to dominate the pick-up class with its excellent equipment level, increased driving support systems and high-performance engine options.
The innovative and premium design of the New Amarok, which has been completely renewed, continues to carry the original Amarok DNA. A strong and charismatic exterior meets a quality interior.
New Amarok with Brand New Appearance and New Technologies
With a length of 5.350 mm, the New Amarok is 100 mm longer than its predecessor. The wheelbase, which has reached 175 mm with an increase of 3.270 mm, means more living space in the double cabin version. With a loading capacity of up to 1,2 tons, a maximum trailer towing capacity of 3,5 tons is now available in more engine/transmission options. As the wheelbase of the new Amarok is longer compared to its overall length, body overhangs are reduced. This has a positive effect on terrain skills. Thanks to the improved terrain capabilities of the new Amarok, the water penetration depth is increased compared to the previous generation.
New Amarok, one petrol and four different diesel engines; It is offered with four to six cylinders and volumes of 2,0 to 3,0 liters. There are different powertrain solutions, optionally rear-wheel drive, selectable or permanent all-wheel drive. Different predefined driving modes support the driver even in the most difficult situations. More than 20 advanced driver assistance systems, of which more than 30 are completely new, provide additional safety.
Confident design
The new lines of the engine hood of the new Amarok, which remain true to the Volkswagen DNA, display a striking appearance. The integrated radiator grille with LED headlights, which are offered as standard in all versions, are quite charismatic with their cross moldings. Emphasizing the high-tech appearance of Amarok, 'IQ.LIGHT - LED Matrix headlights' are optionally available. On the front of the vehicle, the unique X design, which is formed by the radiator grille under the cross moldings, draws attention.
As in the previous generation, the semicircular fender hoods in the New Amarok distinguish themselves as a characteristic Amarok feature, with a straight line form in contrast to the rounded lines of most pick-up models. The 21-inch aluminum alloy wheels and off-road tires show a strong appearance.
The new Amarok also displays a striking appearance when viewed from the rear. The wide tailgate is framed by standard LED taillights. The embossed Amarok lettering covers almost the entire width of the cover. As with the previous generation, the New Amarok has enough room to load a Euro pallet between the two wheel arches. Here the pallet can be tied with load hooks.
Interior suitable for professional tasks and long journeys
With its digital cockpit and tablet format infotainment screen, the interior of the New Amarok offers a functional and user-friendly structure. The cockpit, where high-quality materials are used, emphasizes the premium character of the model. The optional advanced sound system and the stylish front console with decorative stitching and the leather-like surfaces used on the door panels increase the perception of quality. The new seats support the premium look while offering all passengers the usual Volkswagen comfort. In the new Amarok, the driver and passenger can enjoy comfortable, wide seats with optional electric 10-way adjustment. The rear passenger compartment offers ample and comfortable travel space for three adult passengers.
New Hardware for the New Amarok
The new Amarok will be offered in five trim levels. While the entry level will be 'Amarok', there will be 'Life' and 'Style' trim levels on the next level. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will also offer top versions, 'PanAmericana' (off-road character) and 'Aventura' (on-road character).

To date, over 830 Amaroks have been sold in Europe, South America, South Africa and Oceania. Successful premium pick-up model; It stands out with its advanced power-transmission systems, high carrying capacity, functionality and unique terrain design. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles takes these strengths even further with the new generation. At the end of 2022, the new Amarok will be offered in two different body types, initially four-door and double-cab (DoubleCab) in some countries, and two-door single-cab (SingleCab) in certain markets.
