Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer met with the Espedal Association, which operates in the field of disabled rights in Izmir, to support sustainable transportation policies at the European Mobility Week.
Within the scope of Eş European Mobility Week Eş of Eşpedal Association, it organized a tandem bicycle for ”companionship in of disabled and non-disabled individuals. İzmir Mayor Tunç Soyer also participated in the event. President Tunç Soyer and Eşpedal Chairman Saldıray Altındağ pedaled from İzmir Konak Square to Cumhuriyet Square on two-person bicycles.
EU Delegation to Turkey Press Information and Communication Unit Head Maria Kanellopoulo also took part in the bicycle parade. Eşpedal Chairman Saldıray Altındağ, who thanked President Tunç Soyer, said that Eşpedal is an association that transcends the distances between disabled and unhindered individuals together. Altındağ explained that the event arose from the idea that visually impaired individuals would ride bicycles with these bicycles called “tandem ve and designed for two people to use bicycles in coordination. Altındağ said, “We organize city and intercity tours by bringing together our cyclist friends who have high cycling ability and responsible cyclist friends and visually impaired friends on tandem bicycles within our association.
