Transport and Infrastructure Minister Cahit Turhan, the Republic's first years after the neglect of the development of railways have turned into a state policy, he said.

Reminding that they liberalized the railways and opened them to competition in order to increase the share and quality of the railway sector in transportation, Turhan added that they are working on projects that will reduce traffic congestion in big cities.

Underlining that with YHT, they brought comfortable, fast and modern train travel to 2009 percent of the country's population in 40, Turhan stated that 44 million passengers have been transported with YHT so far.
