İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ertuğrul Tugay stated that they implemented the İzmir Agriculture strategy, which was created with the vision of "Another Agriculture is Possible", step by step. Ertuğrul Tugay, who said that they struggled with drought by spreading local seeds and local breeds with the "Mera İzmir" project, which was realized as one of the most important links of İzmir Agriculture, and by supporting the small producer, continued his words as follows: We aim to provide millions of people with healthy food. Terra Madre gastronomy fair, where tastes and people from all over the world meet, is going out of Italy for the first time. With Terra Madre Anadolu, which we will organize on September 2-9, 2022, we will bring our small-scale producers to the international arena and provide them with a market opportunity. It will be a very comprehensive meeting where production techniques, models and methods are discussed, and issues such as good, healthy, fair food and food safety are discussed.”

Within the scope of the project, which has been implemented to support animal husbandry in rural and mountain villages, so far, Aliağa, Bayındır, Bergama, Beydağ, Dikili, Güzelbahçe, Karaburun, Kemalpaşa, Kınık, Kiraz, Menderes, Menemen, Ödemiş, Seferihisar, Selçuk, Tire, Torbalı and Urla districts. Approximately 435 thousand sheep and goats were distributed to 3 thousand 231 producers, 13 of which were women.
