Bursa City Museum, which plays an important role in promoting the cultural, historical, social and economic richness of Bursa, is hosting another important exhibition. The 'Nazif's Buttons' exhibition, which is based on the book in which Bursa writer and collector Tenzile Güler wrote her own family story, and the button collection, which is a family heirloom, was opened to the public with the participation of Bursa Deputy Emine Yavuz Gözgeç, Deputy Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Murat Demir and many art lovers.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, Murat Demir, noted that it was very well emphasized in the exhibition that the button ceased to be an ordinary object and has a different place in human life. Reminding that the exhibition was donated to Bursa City Museum by the exhibition owner Tenzile Güler, Demir said, “In the exhibition, the button ceases to be an ordinary object in our lives and also emphasizes its different place in human life. The process from the button in the past to the production of the button today is also covered in the exhibition. The button has a special place in the Turkish world and Turkish folk culture. In particular, the loss, cracking, wrong buttoning of the button is interpreted negatively, while the double number of buttons on the clothes symbolizes luck and abundance. In addition, our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan and the political party leaders of the period also donated their own buttons to the “Nazif's buttons” exhibition. I wish our exhibition to be beneficial,' he said.

Bursa Deputy Emine Yavuz Gözgeç, who expressed her happiness that the exhibition is in Bursa, also stated that with this exhibition, the belief in the spirit of the goods was reinforced. Gözgeç stated that there is art, migration and the pain of migration in the exhibition; “What's here is not just a button, it's an exhibition with one foot in Bursa and the other around the world. All these circulating buttons are coming again, meeting in the homeland. I would like to thank Ms. Tenzile Güler, who entrusted a story and an experience here. Everyone will find their own story here. I am honored that such an important exhibition is being exhibited in our Bursa.”

Collector Tenzile Güler said, “Although most of us don't think about it, buttons are the silent witnesses of our lives. Nazif's Buttons collection is not just a collection, it is the story of a migration from Thessaloniki to Iznik. In that story, many have longing, many have tears and hopes. I am very happy to be able to leave my collection, which I have accumulated so far, to the city museum of Yeşil Bursa, where I was born and grew up, and to future generations.”

After the opening, Bursa Deputy Emine Yavuz Gözgeç and Deputy Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Murat Demir presented Tenzile Güler with a cufflink model with her name on it.
