The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure drew attention to the fact that the Eurasia Tunnel, which reduced the journey time between two continents to 5 minutes in Istanbul, is open to the use of motorcycle drivers as of tomorrow, and announced that the one-way pass of motorcycles will be charged 20,70 TL in the daytime tariff and 10,35 TL in the night tariff. .
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure shared details about the opening of the Eurasia Tunnel to motorcycle drivers. In the written statement made by the Ministry, it was noted that the Eurasia Tunnel was put into service on December 22, 2016, and that the tunnel reduced the journey time between the Asian and European continents to 5 minutes and significantly relieved the traffic in Istanbul.
Reminding that Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu gave the good news to motorcycle drivers at the opening ceremony of Motobike Istanbul 2022 Fair, it was emphasized that the Eurasia Tunnel will also serve motorcycle drivers as of May 1, with the decision of the Ministry. In the statement, the one-way pass of the motorcycles using the Eurasia Tunnel will be charged 05.00 TL in the daytime tariff between 23.59-20,70, and 00.00 TL in the night tariff between 04.59 - 10,35. Motorcycle riders will be able to make toll payments from the Eurasia Tunnel, which has a free box office system, with their HGS accounts.
IT WILL BE A SAFE ALTERNATIVE FOR MOTORCYCLES IN BAD WEATHER
Pointing out that the Eurasia Tunnel will be an alternative for motorcycle users who are adversely affected by the bad weather conditions in the winter period, it was stated that a safe and comfortable transportation service will be provided for motorcycles in addition to light vehicles of the automobile and minibus type. The statement, which was noted that this decision for motorcycles, only covers the class vehicles specified in the motorcycle definition in the Highway Traffic Regulation, continued as follows:
“Vehicles outside this definition, such as electric bicycles, bicycles, scooters, mopeds and scooters, will be prohibited from passing through the tunnel. In the event that vehicles other than cars, minibuses and motorcycles pass through the tunnel and in violation of traffic rules, the criminal proceedings carried out by the General Directorate of Security will continue.”
