The IYI Party Provincial Presidency reacted to the fact that the T2 Tram Line, which will connect the City Square to the Terminal, has not yet been completed. IYI Party Provincial Chairman Selcuk Turkoglu protested the unfinished project by pouring rust remover on the rails.

Stating that the service understanding of the Metropolitan Municipality is not for the benefit of Bursa, Mayor Türkoğlu said that they tried every way to make their voices heard. Noting that the Yalova Road was narrowed and the traffic flow turned into an ordeal, Selçuk Türkoğlu said, “Leaving the project unfinished also upset the nation. The laid rails, wrought iron and other metal materials around the track almost rusted and were left to rot. There is no timetable for when the scandalous project will be completed," he said.

THIS PROJECT DOES NOT RELIEVE TRAFFIC

Expressing that the T2 Line was originally planned as a 'light metro line', and then the project was converted into a tram line, an unforgivable mistake was made, Türkoğlu said, “A maximum of 25 thousand passengers can be transported per day with the tram line. As of today, Yalova Road has a daily passenger capacity of 60-70 thousand. Therefore, even by removing minibuses and buses from Yalova Road, it will never be possible to relieve traffic with this project. The stations of the T2 Line should have been in the form of underpasses, such as Bursaray stations, instead of overpasses.

THE STORY OF THE SNAKE OF BURSA

Adding that the T2 Line has turned into the snake story of Bursa, Türkoğlu said: “The cost of steel construction in the project is also very high and it requires lifetime maintenance. What happened to your promise that the T2 Line will be integrated into Bursaray at Osmangazi Metro Station? The cost of the completed parts of the project began to be thrown into the streets. Bursa lost both time and money with a faulty project. Saying that the first tender for the line was made in 2015, Selçuk Türkoğlu also reminded that the project came to a standstill many times throughout the process.
