ITU ETA Foundation Doğa College Acıbadem Science and Technology High School students became finalists in the category of “International Free Duty and Inter-High School Unmanned Aerial Vehicle” in the Teknofest competition.
Students develop autonomous rotary-wing projects for immediate response to forest fires, Turkey's first and only aviation, aerospace and technology festival will compete in Teknofest.
2021 thousand 35 teams in 39 categories applied to the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival Teknofest 684. Teknofest; Ministry of Industry and Technology, Technology Team Foundation of Turkey and Turkey in the fellowship of the many organizations that play an important role in the development of national technology will be held 21-26 September 2021 at the Ataturk Airport.
In the International Free Mission UAV Competition, national and international high school, associate degree, undergraduate and graduate students will perform a task determined with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) technologies. The tasks will be determined by the teams and applied in the competition area. The flights will be carried out manually or autonomously. The project, which is the winner by successfully completing the Teknofest finals, will receive an award of 50.000 TL.
QUICK RESPONSE TO FOREST FIRES ...
The project that brought ITU ETA Foundation Doğa College Acıbadem Science and Technology High School students Berra Avcılar, Nehir Naz Tabaş, Deniz Çelik, Hikmet Deniz Yıldız, Sarp Doruk Şahin, Nil Öztürk and Zeynep Sude Üstün to the finals in the International Free Mission UAV category "Doğa Free Spirit" happened. Developing their projects under the consultancy of Physics Teacher Merve Pınar, the students started working with an awareness of social responsibility. They developed an autonomous rotary wing project for immediate response to forest fires.
Doğa Free Spirit Team Captain Berra Avcılar said, “There is fight against forest fires around the world. Rapid response techniques are essential to prevent the rapid spread of fires. Our country is located in the Mediterranean climate zone where forest fires are common. The most important factor in the spread of forest fires is cover fires. "Our aim is to respond quickly and effectively to cover fires."
In the High Schools Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) Competition, teams are expected to perform two different flight missions. While the maneuverability of the teams' aircraft is tested in the first mission, in the second mission, the teams will leave a certain weight of the load to a predetermined area.
As a result of the evaluation made through the stages of Conceptual Design Report, Detailed Design Report and Flight Video, ITU ETA Foundation Doğa College Acıbadem Science and Technology High School students Ozan Aybek, İzgi Akarca, Yalçın Alpay Özdemir, Bartu Aksu, Doğa Başeğmez, Enes Karaca, Ece Akbudak and Azra Yılmaz “Wings of Nature” project developed by Teknofest will compete in the High School Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) category.
ITU ETA Foundation Doğa College General Manager Ali Rıza Lüle said, “Our students participate in technology competitions held in various disciplines and categories every year and compete with thousands of students in order to realize their dreams. Our students who have been appreciated by the jury members with their projects and deserved to receive preparatory support for Teknofest finals He managed to be among 111 teams, including university students. Turkey aim to increase the trained human resources in science and engineering fields, "he said.
