Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that a total of 242 thousand 904 students studying at pre-school, primary, secondary and high school levels in ten provinces affected by the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş were transferred to other provinces upon their requests.

Schools were opened in Kilis, Diyarbakır and Şanlıurfa, where the earthquake disaster occurred, on 1 March, and in Adana, Osmaniye and Gaziantep on 13 March. Stating that they have taken all kinds of measures to facilitate the access of students in the disaster area to education in the province they want, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said, “As of today, we have transferred 10 thousand 242 students from 904 provinces to the provinces they want. We will always be by their side by supporting the educational processes of our children.” said.

Minister Özer shared the following information: “33 students were transferred to Ankara. Mersin was the province with the highest number of transfers with 142 thousand 22, Antalya 300 thousand 21, Istanbul 832 thousand 18 and Konya 452 thousand 13 students.

Özer noted that 9 thousand 797 students transferred to İzmir, 8 thousand 16 to Kayseri, 7 thousand 466 to Bursa, 6 thousand 674 to Muğla, 5 thousand 260 to Aydın and 5 thousand 97 students to Elazığ due to the earthquake.
