Besime Özderici Barrier-Free Life Center, which is the most comprehensive center of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, provides important services with 53 personnel and 310 students. In the Center for Life Without Barriers, faces are smiling and obstacles are removed.
Besime Özderici Special Education and Rehabilitation Center, Turkey's most comprehensive barrier-free life center, which was realized in cooperation with Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality and philanthropist Ali Rıza Özderici and his wife Besime Özderici, offers happy and entertaining activities to special individuals. In the center, which is fully equipped and receives prayers from families and students, 53 personnel and 310 students are served.
Special individuals stated that they were very satisfied with the living center and that they liked the center very much.
Stating that she received individual trainings at the center, Şeyma Döndü Tekdemir stated that they had a great time together and said:
“I have been coming here for 4-5 months. I'm more new. But we have a great time with our friends and teachers. I am taking individual training. We are in music class right now. I'm taking guitar lessons. We sing beautiful songs in the choir. We have a good time with our friends.”
Mürşide Aslan, Manager of Besime Özderici Center for Barrier-Free Life, is programmed to address all of my 7 disability groups. In the field of special education and rehabilitation, we spend quality time in our city, in a way that befits the quality of the Metropolitan Municipality, to serve all disability groups. Currently, there are 320 students,” he said.
Clinical Psychologist Furkan Kılıç, who takes care of children closely at the Besime Özderici Special Education and Rehabilitation Center, said, “We apply play therapists to all children between the ages of 3/11 who exhibit problematic behavior at the Besime Özderici Disabled Life Center. In our institution, we are here with families rather than children, for families to be rehabilitated. In addition to that, when our children exhibit problematic behavior, we play with play therapy, the language that expresses itself best, with the language of play, or rather, with the language of play here," he said.
OBSTACLES ARE ELIMINATED AT BESİME ÖZDERİCİ OBSTACLE-FREE LIFE CENTER
The ground floor of the Besime Özderici Barrier-Free Living Center, which was built across from Erciyes University and has a project area of 8 square meters, consists of a total indoor construction area of 700 square meters.
In the center, 3 separate education blocks were designed considering different age groups and age ranges. The education blocks were separated from the main mass with a controlled security gate in order to prevent the mentally handicapped and different age groups from harming each other. Within each training block; There are individual training rooms, group training rooms, living rooms where they can learn to adapt to daily life, workshops, dormitories, student dressing and cleaning room, trainer room and WC for men and women disabled. The project includes 11 group training rooms, 3 workshops, 3 living rooms, 8 individual training rooms, 3 trainer rooms, a multi-purpose hall, dining hall, management offices and wet area groups.
On the other hand, within the scope of landscaping, there are also supporting functions such as 3 separate playgrounds and gardens, greenhouse and garden area, outdoor sports field, and sandbox serving each education block.
