Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank said that in 2022, a total of 9 thousand 9 domestic industrial property applications were made to the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, including 5 thousand 502 patents, 197 thousand 235 utility models, 78 thousand 268 brands and 290 thousand 14 designs.

Varank visited the Emlak Konut Elevator (EKA) Factory in the Organized Industrial Zone in Konya, where he came to participate in a series of programs, with the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum.

Before the opening ceremony, Ministers Varank and the Institution toured the production lines in the factory and made the welding process.

Varank, at the opening ceremony, said that they have implemented important development moves in Turkey in the last 20 years.

Noting that important projects have been put forward in energy, transportation, industry, health, zoning and many other fields, Varank said that these investments also carried the Turkish construction industry forward and increased human resource competence.

Emphasizing that companies have turned into global companies doing business around the world, Varank said, “While Turkish companies undertook projects worth 2002 billion dollars abroad in 4,4, this figure increased to over 2021 billion dollars in 30. Of course, the growth in the construction sector has positive reflections in many other sectors as well.” he said.

“IN OUR COUNTRY, THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 800 THOUSAND ACTIVE ELEVATORS”

Noting that the elevator industry is also gaining momentum, Varank said:

“The annual turnover of the sector, in which more than 3 companies operate with 32 thousand employees, is currently around 3 billion dollars. The sector also exhibits a successful graphic in exports. In 2019, we exported 230 million dollars of elevator and elevator components. It rose to $2020 million in 250. In 2021, it increased by 20% compared to the previous year and reached 300 million dollars. There are currently around 800 thousand active elevators in our country. The Turkish elevator market is one of the largest in the world. There is a significant potential for the growth of the elevator industry both at home and abroad.”

EMLAK KONUT ELEVATOR WILL MANUFACTURE 5 THOUSAND PEOPLE AND FIRE ELEVATORS A YEAR

Pointing out that the domestic manufacturers in the sector achieved significant success in the country, Varank continued as follows:

“Market shares are not bad. One of these companies is Emlak Konut Elevator, a subsidiary of Emlak Konut GYO. Currently operating in an area of 17 thousand square meters, 70 thousand square meters of which is closed, Emlak Konut Elevator has a high localization rate of 75 percent. The production facility is compatible with digital production. With the solar panels installed on its roof, it meets all of its electricity consumption from renewable energy with its own means. It has an annual production capacity of 5 thousand people and fire elevators, 500 escalators and moving walks. It aims to increase its turnover of 6,2 million dollars to 2023 million dollars in 42. Employment is increasing every year. In the process that they started with 47 employments, the number has now reached 147. The year-end target for 2023 is 310. I hope this year will end this year with a figure of 20 million dollars. One of the most striking aspects of the business is that it allocates 6 percent of its total turnover to R&D.”

“WE PROVIDED APPROXIMATELY 85 MILLION LIRA OF GRANT SUPPORT TO 100 RESEARCH PROJECTS”

Noting that under the guidance of the national technology move, they have established comprehensive support programs to increase the domestic and nationality of the sectors, Varank said, “The elevator sector is one of the sectors we support. With TÜBİTAK so far; We supported many projects from safe shaft systems to smart elevator systems, from new generation home elevator systems to the development of new generation elevator motors. We provided approximately 85 million TL grant support to 100 research projects for the industry. With KOSGEB, we have transferred resources of over 3 million TL to 281 enterprises in the last 18 years. Again, we support the R&D and Design Centers of 6 different companies.” he said.

Expressing that Emlak Konut Elevator R&D Center was also established with the support of the Ministry, Varank stated that 8 projects are carried out in this R&D center.

“DOMESTIC PATENT APPLICATIONS PASSED FOREIGN PATENT APPLICATIONS”

Explaining that as the research and development culture gained in the Turkish industry, new records came in the field of industrial property, Varank said:

“Now, for the first time, I am announcing 2022 industrial property data from here. A total of 9 thousand 9 domestic industrial property applications were made to the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, including 5 thousand 502 patents, 197 thousand 235 utility models, 78 thousand 268 brands and 290 thousand 14 designs. When we look at these applications, we see that there has been an increase of 7 percent in domestic patent applications, 25 percent in domestic utility model applications, 12 percent in domestic trademark applications and 32 percent in domestic design applications. We have gained great momentum in terms of innovation in Turkey and this momentum continues at full speed. Domestic patent applications made to TURKPATENT for the first time since 1994 surpassed foreign patent applications.”

NUMBER OF PATENT REGISTRATION INCREASED 20 TIMES IN THE LAST 46 YEARS

Underlining that the number of patent registrations increased by 2021 percent compared to 2 and reached 3, Varank said, “The number of patent registrations in Turkey has increased 407 times in the last 20 years. The total number of registered geographical indications reached 46, with 291 geographical indications registered last year and 32 geographical indications registered in January of this year. Increases in the field of industrial property give hope for the future, but we do not find these numbers sufficient when we consider the potential of our country. In this sense, we support the breakthroughs of our domestic and national enterprises towards R&D and innovation capacity with comprehensive supports.” used the phrases.

“SOUTH MARMARA HYDROGEN VALLEY PROJECT IS QUALIFIED TO SUPPORT”

Referring to the grant support programs of the European Union, Varank said:

“The European Union has very different grants. In one of them, we achieved a very important success. Under the coordination of Turkey, the South Marmara Hydrogen Valley Project with a total of 10 million Euros, of which 13 million Euros is an EU grant, will be carried out by 7,5 partners, 36 of which are Turks, and was entitled to be supported. With the project, we will be able to produce a minimum of 500 tons of hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives such as methanol and ammonia, which Turkey is dependent on for imports. In addition, the advantages of boron mineral in hydrogen storage will be enhanced with the Sodium Boron Hydride Plant to be established in Balıkesir. It is a very important project.”
