In 2022, 197 thousand 482 illegal immigrants were prevented from entering our country
Under the coordination of the Ministry of Interior; The fight against illegal immigration continues uninterruptedly on a 7 days and 24 hours basis by the Directorate of Migration Management, the General Directorate of Security, the Gendarmerie General Command and the Coast Guard Command.
In this context; By keeping the border security of our country at the highest level, illegal immigrants are prevented from entering our country. In 2022, 197 thousand 482 illegal immigrants were prevented from entering our country, on our eastern and southern borders. Thus, the number of illegal immigrants who have been prevented from entering our country since 2016 has reached 2 million 660 thousand 903.

As part of the fight against illegal immigration, road checks carried out by our law enforcement units for the purpose of detecting and deciphering illegal immigrants and organizers have also been increased. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of deportations increased by 140 percent for foreigners with Afghanistan nationality, 78 percent for foreigners with Pakistani nationality and 198 percent for foreigners with other nationalities. The number of illegal immigrants deported since 2016 has reached 398.
180 charter flights to Afghanistan and Pakistan
In 2022, a total of 178 Afghan citizens were returned to their country, including 32 charter flights to Afghanistan, 744 thousand 10 and 204 thousand 42 scheduled flights.
A total of 2 illegal immigrants were safely sent to their country with 8 charter flights and scheduled flights to Pakistan.

The number of our removal centers has been increased to 30 and their capacity to 20 thousand 540. Thus, our country has surpassed the removal center capacity found in all European countries. Currently, 91 foreigners from 16 different nationalities (906 Pakistani, 5 Afghanistan and 068 other nationals) are under administrative detention in our removal centres, and their deportation proceedings continue.
