İpek Öztosun, the triathlete of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club, nicknamed "Iron Lady", will compete in IRONMAN 26 to be held in the Netherlands on June 70.3.

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club's triathlete İpek Öztosun, who won two championships in Duathlon İzmir, will represent Turkey at the IRONMAN 26 competition in West-Friesland, Netherlands on June 70.3. İpek Öztosun will swim for 70.3 kilometers, pedal 1,9 kilometers and run 90 kilometers on the challenging track of IRONMAN 21,1, which will consist of swimming, cycling and running categories.

Yenişehir came first in the Triathlon Turkish Cup

The successful athlete, who came to the first place in the Mersin Yenişehir Triathlon Turkish Cup, came second in the 25-29 age category and third in the general classification in the Long Distance Triathlon in Çanakkale-Gallibolu. Öztosun, who has been doing triathlon for 12 years, said, “I took part in the national team that became the Balkan Champion in youth in 2014. In 2013, I won the second place in the youth category at the European Cup in Istanbul. I have always been among the top 10 athletes in the European Championships held in the elite category. I will compete in the IRONMAN 70.3 category for the first time in the Netherlands and I believe I will be successful again.”

Known as the "Iron Lady", the 28-year-old triathlete stated that she reached the top in the sport she started with swimming, adding, "While swimming, I also started running for fitness purposes with my trainer Caner Algün. In 2010 we noticed that I ran very well. By adding the bike to my branches, I turned to triathlon. "Looking back, I see it as one of the best choices in my life."
