Protection Group of Companies, one of the biggest chemical manufacturers in Turkey, has installed a solar power plant with 700 kW installed power on the roofs of the R&D Center, Administrative Building and Protection Cleaning Inc. Factory in its facility located in Kocaeli's Derince District. The total target of the Protection Group of Companies in the region is to gradually reach an installed power of more than 2 MW.
The Protection Cleaning, Conservation Agriculture and Conservation Chlorine Alkali factories within the Protection Group of Companies need high amounts of electrical energy during production. Every year, tens of thousands of products are offered to consumers from the plants of the Protection Group of Companies, which export to the Turkish market and many countries.

Stating that they started to implement SPP projects on the roofs of the Protection Cleaning Factory, R&D and Innovation Center and the Administrative Center Building within the facility, Conservation Chlorine Alkali R&D Deputy Director S. Baran Öneren said, “Turkey averages 2 thousand 737 hours per year, 7,5 hours per day. It is a country that has the potential to receive hourly efficient sunshine. For renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources, we have decided to use solar energy panels at every appropriate point within our facility.” said.

Pointing out that the installed power of the installed solar panels is 700 kW, Öneren said, “Even with the energy to be produced only from here, the electricity needs of our offices in our R&D and Innovation Center and Administrative Center building will be met, and the energy that has increased from consumption will be consumed in our production facilities. In short, we will work with the sun in our offices. Our goal is to gradually increase this figure to over 2 MW.” he said.

Ali Sait Berat Güneşli, Conservation Chlorine Alkali Electrical Engineer and Energy Manager, stated that they continue their production with the least carbon emissions by generating electricity with the help of natural gas with the cogeneration power plants established within the facility in order to support the high energy need required for production to a large extent. We have a total electricity generation capacity of 33,5 MWh in our cogeneration facilities, which have a generation license that is established and active in our facilities in Istanbul. By 2022, this existing capacity will be supported by new gas engines, the installation of which continues, and the cogeneration power plant capacity at our Kocaeli facility will be increased from 13,4 Mwh to 22 MW, and the capacity at the Hatay facility will be increased from 10 MW to 18,6 MW. Our cogeneration power plants, which will eventually reach a capacity of 50,7 MWh, not only meet our energy needs to a large extent, but also contribute to the grid in an available manner. We continue to work without slowing down in all three locations with our staff who are aware of the point of producing and consuming energy in our facilities certified within the scope of ISO 50001 Energy Management System.” made a statement.
