The seedling distribution ceremony was marked by the words of Ayla Berber, a female producer, “I want this kindness movement to spread throughout the country, starting from Istanbul”.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) continues to deliver the seedlings it produces in greenhouses heated by recycling wastes to the farmers of Istanbul at the İSTAÇ Solid Waste Center in Kemerburgaz. The distribution of approximately 2022 million summer vegetable seedlings, which will be delivered free of charge to a total of 15 farmers in 166 districts and 1.140 neighborhoods in 5, started with a ceremony. IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, followed the flow of the ceremony with greenhouse worker Gülseren Gökhan and producer Ayla Berber sitting next to him. Gökhan, Barber and greenhouse chef Serap Yıldırım, who were invited to the platform prepared for the ceremony, shared their feelings on the stage.

WORKING WOMEN TAKES THE FIRST WORD

Chief Yıldırım, who took the first floor, thanked İmamoğlu and his team for their support. Stating that they started the business with a greenhouse of 3 square meters, Yıldırım said, “But it was not enough; We decided to build our second greenhouse. Today, we decided to bring 120 million seedlings together with our farmers from Istanbul. We worked hard. While installing this greenhouse, very serious work was done in the snow in the winter. The seedlings we are going to distribute to you now are the reward of a great effort. I hope it will be fruitful," he said. Stating that 5 of the 19 people working in the greenhouse are women, Yıldırım said, "We have established a good team, and there will be more to come."

BERBER: “WE CAN FIX THE ECONOMY WITH AGRICULTURE”

Greenhouse worker Gökhan also expressed his feelings, “I am very happy, very excited. First of all, I would like to thank everyone, be it Mr. President or İSTAÇ, for taking part in this project. All of them are very valuable to me. We had very rough days. But today I see that it was worth it”. “Our Atatürk said in previous years that agriculture should be given great importance for the development of our national economy” and the producer Barber said, “We will work hard for this as well. I believe that our country will come out of this troubled situation if the necessary value and support are given to the farmers. I'm just a little bitter. Like this; All the support given by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality - thank god it was given only to us - but I want this goodness movement to spread all over the country, starting from Istanbul. I sincerely want our other farmers to receive support like us. Only in this way can we develop our country. That's the only way we can fix the economy. Thank you very much to everyone who contributed.”

FROM İMAMOĞLU TO ATALIK MY HUMORIZED SITE

After the women workers, respectively; Sarıyer Chamber of Agriculture President Bilgin Çakıroğlu, İSYÖN A.Ş General Manager Hamdi Barley and İBB Agricultural Services Department Head Ahmet Atalık made speeches. Making the final speech at the ceremony, İmamoğlu said that Atalık said, “We are very honored to move forward in the light, in the line you have shown us. Because these beautiful works that we have created together with you cause farmers from all over Anatolia to call us, 'When will we see such supports, how can we benefit'. And we answer this nicely: If you immigrate to Istanbul and become our farmer, you will be within the scope of this support," he humorously added an "opposition commentary". Saying, “We should not make our producers, that is, you, offend the soil and we should always support them,” İmamoğlu said:

“We must ensure that more people participate in production, and that more land is allocated to production, not rent. Of course, we are saying this by rejecting Ahmet Bey's policy of 'Immigrate here, we will give seedlings. If Ahmet Bey had said, 'Istanbulites living in their apartments, O Istanbulites, ask us for land, we will give you some land, invest a little, cultivate agriculture, and we will give you seedlings'; I would understand that. But I don't know what he said about it. I expected the following from our Head of Department, who supported agriculture and served his chambers: If there is anyone who wants to immigrate from Istanbul to Anatolia, let's give them seedlings for 10 years. You go to Anatolia, produce in your village… So I think it would be better.”

“MANUFACTURER SHOULD NOT BE SUBSTITUTED”

Drawing attention to the food inflation in our country, İmamoğlu underlined that citizens bear the burden of wrong policies. Imamoglu said, "However, if the main thing in this country was production, if we used the land productively, if we used tens of millions, even 10 million square meters, to agriculture even for the needs of this city, not to open new building areas, if we could give the producer ladies the value that the peasant is the master of the nation, today Istanbul We would have made it possible to meet the needs of even the metropolis like the city with what it produces on its own soil. We are in a period in the history of the Republic of Turkey, where even the middle class has great difficulties in accessing food after a very long time.” Emphasizing that there is a management approach that ignores the people, İmamoğlu said, “We should not make our producers, that is, you, offend the land and we should always support them. We must ensure that more people participate in production and that more land is allocated to production, not rent. "Not concrete walls, but truly fertile fields will enlighten us and bring us happiness," he said.

MOTHERS REMEMBERED

Explaining in detail the support they have given to the farmers, animal breeders and fishermen of Istanbul since the day they took office, İmamoğlu conveyed his thanks to CHP PM Member Gökhan Günaydın for his contributions. Noting that he was the child of a productive mother, İmamoğlu added that he grew up in this process until his high school years. He celebrated the mother's day of Zübeyde Hanım, the mother of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, one of the mothers of all martyrs, from his mother, Hava İmamoğlu, who raised them during that difficult period, to his wife Dilek İmamoğlu. After the speeches, İmamoğlu visited the greenhouses where the seedlings were produced, and the delegation, including CHP deputies Özgür Karabat and Gökan Zeybek, loaded the seedlings, which will be delivered to the farmers of Istanbul free of charge, to the trucks together with the women farmers.
