Ankara Public Bread Factory Produced Gluten-Free Fresh Bagels and Fresh Pastries

Ankara Public Bread Factory broke new ground in the Capital. On May 9, World Celiac Day, it produced gluten-free fresh bagels and fresh pastries for the first time for the residents of Başkent with celiac disease.

Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş shared on his social media accounts, "We started to produce gluten-free fresh bagels and fresh pastries for our fellow citizens with celiac disease in Ankara." Halk Bread Factory, which put an end to the gluten-free hot bagel longing for celiac patients of all ages, from 7 to 70 years, introduced its new products with its breakfast organization.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which has signed projects that prioritize 'human health' in line with the understanding of social municipality, has not forgotten the citizens with celiac disease.

Ankara Public Bread Factory, which brought together the public bread kiosk where gluten-free products were sold with the people of the Capital in the first place, now produced fresh hot bagels and moist cakes for the first time for celiac patients.

While introducing new products with the breakfast organization held at GIMAT Public Bread Factory on May 9, World Celiac Day, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş shared on his social media accounts, “Gluten-free fresh bagels and fresh cheesecakes for our compatriots with celiac disease in Ankara. We started to produce cakes,” he said.

GLUTEN-FREE PRODUCT VARIETY WILL CONTINUE INCREASING

People's Bread General Manager Tamer Eski, Celiac Association President Şebnem Ercebeci Çınar, Ankara Celiac Association President Mehmet Tanrıseven, Gülhane Training and Research Hospital Lecturer Prof. Dr. Necati Balamtekin and celiac patients and their relatives attended the breakfast, and for the first time, gluten-free hot bagels and cakes were served.

Tamer Eski, General Manager of Halk Bread, participated in the breakfast program where gluten-free eclairs, cookies, cupcakes and pastries are also offered, stating that they will increase the variety of gluten-free products and said:

“On this special day, we wanted to satisfy our celiac patients' longing for gluten-free hot bagels for years. We continue to produce gluten-free bread, bread flour, bagels, 2 types of cookies and cookies for our celiac patients in a separate facility that is isolated within the factory and where hygiene measures are taken at the highest level. We offered our celiac patients to taste the simit, fresh cakes, eclairs, cupcakes and pastries produced for the first time at Halk Ekmek. We will soon put these new gluten-free products for sale in our GIMAT Başkent Market and Batıkent Branch.”

Drawing attention to the importance of local governments' services to celiac patients, Gülhane Training and Research Hospital Lecturer Prof. Dr. While Necati Balamtekin said, “The best treatment and the only valid treatment method in celiac disease is gluten-free diet therapy”, Celiac Association President Şebnem Ercebeci Çınar said, “Halk Ekmek, who invited us to this event on the occasion of May 9 World Celiac Day and brought us together at the gluten-free breakfast event. I would like to thank the General Manager Tamer Eski,'' he said. Mehmet Tanrıseven, President of Ankara Celiac Association, thanked the Metropolitan Municipality for the practices of celiac patients and made the following evaluations:

“Until a few years ago, gluten-free bread was not distributed to those in need in Ankara. We, as Ankara Celiac Association, asked our President Mansur Yavaş and started to distribute gluten-free bread to those in need. During the pandemic period, our President Mansur Yavaş started to distribute gluten-free bread to everyone's homes, I thank him again for this.

Capital residents with celiac disease, who attended the breakfast event held at the People's Bread Factory, expressed their thoughts after enjoying the fresh hot bagel they tasted for the first time:
