The Regulation on the Rights of Passengers Traveling on the Railroads of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure was published in the Official Gazette of 08 March 2019 and entered into force.
In a regulation covering the passengers on the national railway infrastructure network with a travel document and the railway train operators, agencies, stations and station operators serving them; the principles and procedures regarding the obligations of the passengers using the railway before, during and after the journey, the rights they will have in the accidents and events affecting them, the obligations and services to be fulfilled by the service providers.
Passenger rights on train delays
Passengers will be entitled to claim damages from the railway train operator at certain rates of the fare due to mileage and delay time due to the reasons caused by the railway train operator to the final destination.
If it is foreseen that the railway train operator will arrive at the final destination by the rail train operator with a delay of 120 minutes or more, the passenger will be given the option of returning the full fare, returning to the destination at the first opportunity with the equivalent transportation facilities and sending the passenger at a later date.
On the other hand, before the ticket is purchased, the passenger is informed about the delay in the voyage and if this ticket is processed, the passenger will not be able to claim compensation.
Passenger rights for luggage and belongings
On the other hand, the railway train operator will be responsible for the safety of luggage and belongings.
In addition, the staff of the railway railway operator in charge will jeopardize the navigation and safety of the traffic and will not be able to behave in a manner that will disturb the passengers.
