Giant award for the Third Airport tower: The traffic control tower of the Third Airport won the 2016 International Architecture Award. Pininfarina, the designer of Ferrari, designed the tower.
Istanbul New Airport (third airport) won the 2016 International Architecture Award by the Air Traffic Control Tower and Technical Building, the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, and the European Center for Architectural Art Design and Urban Studies.

Yusuf Akçayoğlu, Senior Manager (CEO) of IGA Airports Construction, stated that the award was a pleasing development for them. Stating that the tower will be visible to all passengers traveling between Europe and Asia via Istanbul New Airport, Akçayoğlu said: “We chose Pininfarina, the designer of Ferrari, the world's number one, for the tower design. With this award, we once again saw what a right decision we made in the selection we made. "
Selected from 370 projects
As a result of IGA's competition in 2015, the Traffic Control Tower and Technical Building, designed by Pininfarina and AECOM, were awarded by the jury of Italian architects and critics among the 370 projects from all over the world. 23 will be awarded with the award of İGA CEO Yusuf Akçayoğlu, Pininfarina and AECOM executives at the ceremony in Athens in September.
