EIA Process Started for Turkiye Konya’s New Tram Line

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process for “Fetih-Ahmet Özcan-Fatih Işıklar Tram Line”, which is an important project of Konya Metropolitan Municipality to relieve urban transport, has been officially started. The Project Introduction File was submitted to the Governorship of Konya for examination.

8.3 Billion TL Budget and Three Districts

According to the presentation file prepared by Alya Çevre Danışmanlık Ltd. Şti. the total investment cost of the project is determined as 8.292.346.608 TL. The line will be implemented within the borders of Selçuklu, Meram and Karatay, which are the central districts of Konya.

Route and Technical Details

The tram line , with a total length of 19.42 km, will connect key points in the city centre. The route of the line was determined as follows:

  • Start Fetih Caddesi
  • Critical Points: Dr Ahmet Özcan, Chechnya, Gaza, Şehir, Sivaslı Ali Kemal, Ömer Halisdemir and Adakale Streets.
  • End: It will reach YHT Station via Ring Road Street.

The project also includes technically important structures:

  • Stations: A total of 25 stations/stops, 24 on the surface and 1 open-close.
  • Tunnelling and Infrastructure: 675 m long Type A NATM tunnel, 610 m cut-and-cover structure at the tunnel entrances and exits, 365 m long U section and 1 overnight accommodation area.

Construction Schedule: in Service in 2029

The construction of the project is planned to start in 2026. The works are planned to be completed by the end of 2028 and the line is planned to be put into service at the beginning of 2029.

Yüksel Proje won the tender for the preparation of the final project based on the implementation of this project and the contract was signed for approximately 250 million TL. The new tram line aims to bring a modern and sustainable solution to Konya’s rapidly increasing transport needs.
