Tatar Invited Turkish-German Businessmen to Invest in Cyprus in Berlin

TDU President Remzi Kaplan, who made the first speech at the opening of the meeting, noted that they, as business people in Berlin, were ready to invest in Cyprus and gave information about the activities carried out by business people in Germany, where 3.5 million Turkish citizens live. In his speech, KGK Chairman Mehmet Ali Dim gave information about the council and noted that they put forward their best efforts through media diplomacy to promote the TRNC and ensure its recognition in the international arena. Stating that they appreciated and supported Tatar's efforts in this regard, Dim thanked the TRNC delegation for the hospitality shown by both TDU and Ocak Family in the Berlin program, which is an extension of these efforts. World Sister Cities Tourism Forum Secretary General Hüseyin Baraner reminded that when they first came to Germany, Turks generally worked as workers in factories and said, "Nowadays, I see that Turks living here have come to important places, established factories and become employers, and I am proud of this."

Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Berlin Ahmet Başar Şen also reminded that last year they celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey and the 40th anniversary of the TRNC. Pointing out that the Cyprus issue is of great importance for the Turks, Ambassador Şen said that they support the two-state solution model put forward by President Ersin Tatar in resolving the Cyprus issue. Ambassador Şen stated that their biggest wish is for the TRNC to be recognized and to reach the place it deserves, adding that strengthening the TRNC is among its priority goals. Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu stated that they are trying to promote the country in the best possible way at the annual Berlin fair and stated that they are doing their best to develop the country's tourism under unfair embargoes. Emphasizing that Motherland Turkey stands by the Turkish Cypriot people in the field of tourism, as in every field, Minister Ataoğlu called on business people in Germany to come to TRNC and contribute to the development of tourism.

President Ersin Tatar noted that TRNC has always been an integral part of Turkey and stated that Turkish business people in Germany are now able to direct the German economy. President Tatar stated that nearly 5 million tourists come to the country from Germany annually and called on Turkish business people in Germany to contribute to the further development of the country's tourism. Pointing out that TRNC has a very rich history and artifacts, President Tatar said, "Despite the obstacles, we have taken the path, we are on our way, Turkey is on our side." Referring to the visit of German President Steinmeier to the Southern Greek part in February, President Tatar said, "They may not recognize us, that is their shame. Even though they said no to the Annan plan, we continue to be victims of unfair embargoes." Emphasizing that the German President should also visit them and that not only Greeks live on the Island, President Tatar stated that the realities of Cyprus should be well known and everyone should see that there are two equal states on the Island. Underlining that they will never give up on their vision of a two-state solution, President Tatar stated that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is also important for Turkey's security in the Blue Homeland in the Mediterranean. Noting that the Southern Greek part acted as a part of Greece, President Tatar reminded that the Island of Cyprus was a part of the Ottoman Empire. President Tatar expressed his hope that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will be recognized in the near future and that they are acting in full harmony with the Motherland Turkey to make this happen.

Reminding that although the Turkish Cypriots said "yes" to the Annan plan, the Southern Greek part was unilaterally admitted to the European Union, President Tatar said that unfair embargoes continue to be imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people and this is unacceptable. President Ersin Tatar pointed out that the Greek side wants zero soldiers and zero guarantorship, and underlined that the presence of Turkish soldiers on the Island and Turkey's guarantorship are red lines and that they will never compromise on this. President Tatar added that, as TRNC, they want to establish closer relations with Germany.
