Bursa Tourism and Businessmen Association (BURTİD), a non-governmental organization formed by sector representatives serving in the field of tourism in Bursa, brought together tourism sector representatives at iftar. Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Fethi Yıldız, Metropolitan Municipality Foreign Relations Department Head Abdülkerim Baştürk and representatives of the tourism sector attended the iftar held together with Anatolia Hotel.
BURTİD President Doğan Sager stated in his speech that the tourism sector includes hundreds of sectors. Emphasizing that tens of thousands of sector employees are employed in the field of tourism in Bursa, Sager emphasized that it is one of the sectors that provides the greatest added value to the economy of Turkey and Bursa. “Tourism is a sector that contributes to the economy by increasing foreign exchange inflow to our country and city and providing employment, and has a great share in preserving world peace with its enabling and integrating effect of international cultural and social communication. In terms of Bursa tourism, compared to recent years, our private sector, together with the leadership of the Metropolitan Municipality and Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has made significant investments and promotional activities. Accordingly, as Bursa, we must work harder and act in cooperation to get a return on these investments.
INCENTIVE AGENDA FOR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS
Increasing Middle East tourism compared to previous years and reaching new markets should be our most important agenda. As BURTİD; Increasing tourism in Bursa since the day we were founded and bringing more foreign tourists to our city will provide significant added value not only to the tourism sector but also to the city economy. At this point, for the development of Bursa tourism, our top priority agenda as our local governments and all stakeholders of our sector should be to ensure that the airport is active and encouraged in international flights.”
TOURISM INVESTMENTS OF THE METROPOLITAN CITY
Abdülkerim Baştürk, Head of Foreign Relations Department of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, emphasized the investments made in the field of tourism locally and said, “Under the leadership of our Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş, we are carrying out important works to attract more local and foreign tourists to our city. Çarşıbaşı Square, which is the first phase of our Hanlar District Project, which has been talked about for many years, was completed. We will cover our Khans Region, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, step by step. We will continue to unearth the history of our capital city, Bursa, and bring it to tourism. We brought our region to tourism with rafting in Orhaneli Sadağı Canyon. "We will continue to act together with our tourism industry representatives to promote many other tourism destinations in Bursa, such as Cumalızık, Gölyazı and Iznik, in the world," he said. In his speech, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Fethi Yıldız emphasized that the expectations and demands of the sector representatives were taken into account and said, "We will work in cooperation with all stakeholders of our tourism sector under the leadership of our Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş to increase Bursa tourism in the new period."
