Those Who Lost Their Lives on February 6 were Commemorated with Folk Songs

Beylikdüzü Municipality organized a memorial concert at Beylikdüzü Fatih Sultan Mehmet Culture and Art Center for those who lost their lives in the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023.

The commemoration concert, attended by Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, where the stories of the provinces affected by the earthquake were told and their folk songs were sung, witnessed emotional moments.

“I WILL WORK WITH MY POWER TO MAKE BEYLİKDÜZÜ A RESILIENT CITY”

Stating that they supported search-rescue and aid efforts in the region from the first moment of the earthquake, Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık said, “We brought thousands of lives to the ground without wrapping them in shrouds. A year has passed, but our pain does not subside. I have always accepted the healing aspect of art. I also bow with respect to our municipality's Turkish Folk Music Ensemble. Today, you have been a balm to our wounds. As local administrators, we are obliged to do our part to prevent these sufferings from happening again. We are making all our preparations in Beylikdüzü. Beylikdüzü is one of the districts most prepared for disasters. "We definitely have shortcomings, but I will work with all my strength to make Beylikdüzü a resilient city," he said.
