The collection of agricultural packaging waste, initiated by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality to encourage agricultural production in harmony with nature, continues. In the project, in which nearly 6 tons of agricultural packaging waste has been reintroduced to the economy, the producer has also smiled. Organic vermicompost was distributed to the producers in Değirmendere and Karaveliler villages in return for the waste they collected.

With the project started in Menderes Değirmendere Village, 4 kilograms of agricultural packaging waste was included in recycling in two years and brought to the economy. One liter of organic liquid vermicompost was distributed to 465 producers in Değirmendere, which collected their packaging wastes in special bags distributed by the Metropolitan Municipality, in exchange for each bag, which would make their soils of higher quality and productivity.
The project is expanding
After Menderes Değirmendere, the project started in Bayındır Karaveliler Village last November. One thousand 200 kilograms of agricultural packaging waste was collected and recycled by İZDOĞA A.Ş., which carries out the recycling activities of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. The producers were given worm castings. The project is planned to be started in Seferihisar.
The "Separate Collection of Agricultural Pharmaceutical Packaging Waste Project", which was initiated to take measures to protect nature and the environment due to the increase in the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and similar pesticides in agricultural production, is carried out in cooperation with the Department of Agricultural Services and the Department of Zero Waste and Climate Change.
