Bornova Municipality, which meets the social needs of citizens with activities in the field of culture and art, did not slow down in 2022. While 125 events were organized in total, Bornova residents enjoyed a full year with colorful activities, courses, theaters and exhibitions.

Stating that they brought the people of Bornova together in social events in 2022, Mayor of Bornova Mustafa İduğ said, “Our activities will continue to increase in the 100th year of our Republic. Bornova Municipality will continue to stand by Bornovas in the field of culture and art.

Within the scope of National Holidays, special days and weeks, 28 concerts, ceremonies and shows took place. In addition, while hosting 11 different painting, sculpture, illumination and photography exhibitions in Bornova Municipality, 15 theater plays were staged, 19 of which belonged to Bornova Municipality City Theatre. 21 different workshops were held, especially for women and children. While participating in İzmir International Fair, 'İBB Women's Labor Exhibition and Sales Market', Terra Madre and the 16th International Tourism Trade Fair and Congress, the '3.Bornova Book Days' and 'New Year Gift Days' were organized.

In the 3rd Book Days of Bornova, which also included names such as CHP Deputy Writer Ali Mahir Basarir and Turkey's first female humorist Mine Kırıkkanat, 50 publishers, 250 authors and 500 thousand books met with readers.

“Continue the courses”

In addition to the activities that reveal the cultural city identity of Bornova, the pace of education has not slowed down. While supporting students with Digital Classroom and My Document, love of science was instilled in children with science education. In Hobby and Skill Acquisition Courses, it was ensured that citizens turned to art by making use of their spare time. A total of 2 trainees, 22 of which are still continuing, benefited from the courses held in 2129 different branches, organized in 4669 terms, summer and winter. In addition, 7 new members were added to the 656 libraries serving under the Bornova Municipality, while 5 thousand 37 new books took their places on the shelves. The number of borrowed books from libraries in 2022 was 4226.

“Children special events”

Different projects were also realized for the little Bornova residents. Bornova Municipality prepared painting competitions and holiday events. It brought together the little ones from Bornova with 20 theaters and workshops on 43 different topics such as fairy tales, origami, zumba, gender equality and composition writing.

“Historical places visited”

Yeşilova Tumulus Visitor Center, where finds proving that life in İzmir began in Bornova 8 years ago, were unearthed and hosted 500 people in a year. In a year, 15 people visited the Ata Memorial House in Belkahve, the place where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk first looked at İzmir. On the other hand, 695 people participated in the city tours, which started in November, prepared by the Bornova Municipality to promote the city and develop tourism.
