EGO General Directorate has opened the pedestrian corridor of ANKARAY's station, which is idle next to Söğütözü Metro Station, one of the most used metro stations in the capital, to the use of citizens.

The entrance of Söğütözü ANKARAY Station, which was damaged during the construction process of a business center belonging to a private company and became idle, will be reactivated on Monday, January 2, 2023 and will be used as a transit corridor to the subway.

CITIZENS WILL EFFORTLESSLY REACH THE METRO STATION

Serdar Yeşilyurt, Head of EGO Transportation Planning and Rail System Department, stated that the station has been made suitable for the access of pedestrians and the disabled after the extensive renovations made in the ruined and unused parts of the station:

“Söğütözü Station, the construction of which started in 2002, was badly damaged during the construction of the business center. During this year, we are repairing this damage and at the same time activating the previously canceled entry. The entrance will only be used for the transition to Söğütözü Metro Station at this time.”

With the opening of the new station entrance; Citizens coming from 1443. Street on Çukurambar side will no longer have to go around the business center to reach Söğütözü Metro Station on Dumlupınar Boulevard.

The construction of Söğütözü Metro Station was started in 2002, and the construction works were completed in 2008. The station, which was transferred to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure in 2010, was re-acquired from the Ministry in 2020 within the scope of the Dikimevi-Natoyolu Metro Line Project of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.

It is planned that the connection between Söğütözü Station and AŞTİ Station will be made after the completion of the processes related to the Natoyolu Metro and it will start to serve.
