Countdown Has Started for Bergama Camel Wrestling

The wrestler camels of the Aegean, Marmara and Mediterranean are in Bergama on Sunday, January 29, 2023. The countdown has begun for the traditional Camel Wrestling, which is held every year under the auspices of Bergama Mayor Hakan Koştu.

In the wrestling organized with the contributions of Bergama Municipality, approximately 200 wrestlers from Aegean, Mediterranean and Marmara regions will wrestle camels. Mayor Hakan Koştu, who invited all citizens to the traditional wrestling organized in cooperation with the Bergama Camel Culture and Camel Breeders Association and where the entrance is free, said, “One of the deep-rooted traditions of our entire Aegean region is Camel Wrestling. We are rapidly completing our preparations for the Camel Wrestling Festival. Camels will enter the arena at the Camel Wrestling Field opposite the Covered Pazaryeri. We are waiting for all our people to this organization that will be the scene of the most ambitious wrestling of our region.”
