However, your doctor will prescribe you painkillers to use, especially in the first days.” he said.
“Will there be swelling and bruising after the surgery, if so, how long will it last?”
Stating that it is normal to have swelling and bruising around the eyes for swelling and bruising after the surgery, Assoc. Dr. Şenol Çomoğlu said, “Although it is very light most of the time, it can sometimes reach significant dimensions. Your doctor will warn you about some precautions to reduce or eliminate this swelling and bruising. These swelling and bruising will usually go away in a week or two.” he said.
“I'm afraid of removing the tampons, will it hurt?”
On the subject of tampons, Assoc. Dr. Şenol Çomoğlu stated that the new generation nasal packings were made of soft medical silicone, and the patient did not feel hurt when they were removed.
“Should the surgery be done open or closed? What is the difference between these techniques, which one is better?”
Assoc. Dr. Şenol Çomoğlu said, “Rhinoplasty is basically performed with two different approaches, closed and open. In the open approach, an incision of 2-1 millimeters is made in the lower part of the nose, and the skin is lifted and the surgery is performed with more tissue dominance. In the closed approach, this skin incision is not made, the incisions are made inside the nose and the surgery is performed from there. Although the two approaches have their own advantages, recovery time, edema, bruising, etc. They do not have superiority over each other in matters.” said.
“How long will it take for my nose to heal?”
Stating that it takes an average of one year for the nose to fully heal, Assoc. Dr. Şenol Çomoğlu said, “This period varies depending on many factors such as your age, gender, medications you use, if any, or other diseases, and your skin type. Sometimes it can be completed in 6-8 months, sometimes it can take up to two years. Of course, you will not feel like you just came out of the surgery during this time, because the change is quite slow, it spreads over time. Your nose will have taken its new shape in an average of 3-4 weeks.” used the phrases.
“Does my nose collapse, what is nasal collapse?”
Providing information about nasal collapse, Assoc. Dr. Şenol Çomoğlu continued as follows:
“Consider any point on the tip or back of the nose when viewed from the side, the distance from this point to the face is called “projection”. While the healing of the nose is completed, the edema disappears and the nose gradually shrinks slightly and becomes compatible with the face; this is commonly known as “nose fit” and is a predicted projection correction. However, if the projection reduction occurs much more than the predicted amount and in a place different from the predicted nose area, this means loss of projection, which is popularly known as "collapse". There are basically two reasons for this; The first is about the surgery, and the second is about the post-operative period. If we compare the nose to a building, septorhinoplasty is an operation to enlarge the rooms inside the building while beautifying this building. Just as there are columns and beams that keep the building standing, there are similar support areas on the nose. Maximum care should be taken to protect or support these areas during surgery. After the surgery, patients should stay away from situations that may cause a blow to their nose and risk these support areas, especially in the early period.
"I'm afraid my nostrils will be visible from the front, will it be too obvious?"
Stating that this situation occurs when the tip of the nose is lifted more than necessary, Assoc. Dr. Şenol Çomoğlu stated that the nose should be brought to natural angles and distances during the surgery and that these natural dimensions should not be exceeded.
“How can we decide which nose is right for my face?”

Dr. Çomoğlu said, “In this process, it is very important that you talk to your doctor about the places in your nose that you are uncomfortable and like, the process and the ideal nose ratios. Although simulation programs can give you an idea, they will not always show the clear result. Because the structure of the skin, which is one of the main factors that determine the result in nose surgeries, can be its thickness or thinness. As a result of the simulation program, it is very important for your doctor to make an accurate assessment so that you do not have a more natural and beautiful nose than the nose you see, and you do not expect it to be technically possible.” he said.
