The Chinese-made LM8 submachine gun is known as the Chinese FN M249 clone. 500 machine guns were purchased for the Police Special Operations units affiliated to the General Directorate of Security. The gun was purchased to replace aging FN Minimi MK1 rifles. Like the FN M249 rifle, the gun is left-handed and operates with an open mechanism system. Images of some personnel using the gun were shared on some social media accounts.

The 2800 Type 80 machine guns received were purchased for the TAF personnel or commandos standing at the border posts. The Type 80 machine gun, which was previously in the TAF inventory, is used by the commandos and the Gendarmerie. The Type 80 machine gun is a Chinese copy of the Russian PK machine gun. Like the PK, it is fed with a swimsuit from the right and works with an open mechanism. There are Russian PKM, Chinese Type 7,62 and Bulgarian MG54 machine guns using 80×1 ammunition in the TAF inventory.
