Bloody Images in the Bosphorus Became History

With an investment of 128 million liras, İSKİ buried the bloody images that occur in the Bosphorus every Eid-al-Adha. Saying “May Allah be pleased with all those who have contributed to İSKİ in the past years”, İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu“I make an urgent call to all political parties that have groups in the IMM Assembly on this issue. For İSKİ, which is in an effort to provide these services with great sacrifices, savings and preventing waste, despite the fact that it has suffered a lot in today's inflation, price increases and cost increases; He needs to be sensible, appreciate and decide in accordance with the literature and science of economics and pave the way.”

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) institution İSKİ has completed the İstavroz Wastewater Tunnel, which ends the bloody images that occur every Eid-al-Adha in the Bosphorus. Ceremony for the opening; CHP Deputy Chairman Honorary Adıgüzel, İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu and Üsküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen. In the ceremony, respectively; İSKİ General Manager Şafak Başa, Türkmen and İmamoğlu made speeches. Stating that it is an honor to serve Istanbul, Türkmen said, “One of the most important districts of the Anatolian side of this beautiful city is Üsküdar. An important problem of this coastline of our Üsküdar comes to an end as of today. With the completion of the last phase of this wastewater project, which continues from Beylerbeyi to Küçüksu, today we are ending a really important problem. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our esteemed Metropolitan Mayor, his team and İSKİ General Manager for completing this project and resolving a very important problem.”

TURKMEN ATTRACTS ATTENTION TO THE EXPLORATION TRIP WITH İMAMOĞLU

Reminding that the project, which was designed as an 8-kilometer tunnel, was designed during the time of the late IMM President Kadir Topbaş, Türkmen said:

“Unfortunately, this tunnel was stopped in 2016 due to the remains of a historical artifact and historical artifact work. Towards the end of 2019, we made an exploratory visit together with our President in Üsküdar, Kuzguncuk, Beylerbeyi and Çengelköy. We had conveyed to our President that this place is very important, that it should be completed as soon as possible, and that the sea turns red here, especially during the Eid-al-Adha. Fortunately, they gave instructions. They have ensured that the last phase of this important project, this eight-kilometer project, is completed quickly. I would like to thank them in your presence on behalf of the people of Üsküdar, on behalf of my fellow countrymen, on behalf of those who love the environment. There is an ongoing project in Çengelköy as a continuation of this place. Thankfully, our İSKİ General Directorate is doing it again and following it. As Üsküdar Municipality, I hope we will complete that project with a good cooperation. We aim to complete both this wastewater issue in Çengelköy and the rehabilitation project of Bekar Stream, which continues towards Bekar Stream, this term, hopefully, again with the instructions of our President.”

İMAMOĞLU: “WE ENDED THE IMAGE THAT DESTROYED THE CHRISMATIC CITY OF THE WORLD”

Completing Istanbul as "the most charismatic city in the world", İmamoğlu said, "There are nuances and moments that spoil the charisma of a city with such high charisma, so to speak, and you will be very upset. This process in the Bosphorus, especially when the waste water meets the Bosphorus -which is a spiritual moment, Eid-al-Adha-spoils us all in this way. The bloody sight of the Bosphorus here, of course, made us very sad. We will no longer have this problem. We are really enjoying the fact that we have solved this problem, which is not befitting our faith, with its beautiful sea, dyed with the blood of the victims, and which causes trouble and pollutes the environment, with the conclusion of that process in this way while fulfilling our faith," he said. Emphasizing that they have given a special importance to infrastructure investments since the day they took office, İmamoğlu gave examples of the phases of projects that ended or will end floods at nearly 100 points.

“IT IS VERY EASY TO REACH THE RESULT IF YOU SHARE”

Emphasizing that they work in partnership with both the district municipalities and İSKİ to determine the points in question, İmamoğlu said, “If you work together, collaborate, set a table and produce ideas together at that table, if you put everything out there, it is very easy for you to definitely and definitely reach the result. Because; Those who live know best, those who feel it know best. Yes, we have bureaucracy, we have valuable companions, they have experiences. But here we have people in Beylerbeyi who live this every day, there are people from Üsküdar. Then, of course, we will sit in Üsküdar, we will talk to our district president, we will also talk to the district heads of our other political parties. But we will talk to our mayor, who serves here at all times, and his team. And we will note down the problems one by one,” he said.

"WE WILL DEFINITELY FINISH, MY DEAR PRESIDENT"

Saying, “Uskudar is one of our districts where we see the most valuable benefits of traveling and walking around the field together,” said İmamoğlu. She expresses her feelings. He says his wishes. What did he say here today? He says, 'It will be very good for us that the ongoing infrastructure works in Çengelköy will be completed as soon as possible'. We also say; 'We will definitely finish it, my dear President.' It will be very nice and we will open it to the service of the people of Üsküdar as soon as possible. Therefore, we will solve all the problems that endanger people's health and worsen the life of this beautiful city, such as floods and inundations in nearly 100 points of Istanbul. We got most of it. Look, in the last rain, although it rained well, we experienced the only problem in Istanbul, which we can describe as flooding, in Esenyurt. Our process continues with an investment of more than 800 million liras, which we started in Esenyurt, right at that point, after the flood two years ago. Therefore, we will solve the problem there," he said.

“SALacak BEACH WILL BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CORD IN THE WORLD”

Giving the good news that they will open Üsküdar Square on August 30, İmamoğlu gave the good news that they will start the Salacak Beach project, which he said will be the most beautiful cordon in the world after it is finished, after obtaining the necessary permissions from the relevant boards. Noting that the works on Sarayburnu on the opposite side of Salacak will be completed on October 6, İmamoğlu said, “So you can look at Salacak from Sarayburnu or at Sarayburnu from Salacak; Everything you see will make you very happy. Because now Istanbul is very beautiful with the services we provide together”. Stating that İSKİ is a very important institution that cannot be the subject of political debates in the current economic crisis, İmamoğlu made the following call to the representatives of all parties in the IMM Assembly:

“TOGETHER WE SHOULD TREAT İSKİ CAREFULLY”

“Whoever has contributed to İSKİ in the past, may Allah be pleased with them all. Throughout its history, tremendous works have been done that are not really visible but make our lives easier. Actually, İSKİ has a history of about 70-80 years. Therefore, in order for our İSKİ institution to come to a better point, we must all act with care. Currently, İSKİ has only one income: water bill. Despite being one of the most expensive in terms of water income, Istanbul ranks 28th among major cities in Turkey in the tariff. It shouldn't be in this situation. In this regard, I make an urgent call to all political parties that have groups in the IMM Assembly on this issue. For İSKİ, which is trying to provide these services with great sacrifices, savings and preventing waste, despite the fact that it has suffered a lot in today's inflation, price increases and cost increases, everyone should appreciate and decide in accordance with the literature and science of the economy and open the way.”

CALL FOR MELEN: “GUARANTEE ISTANBUL'S WATER”

Expressing once again the problems in the Melen Dam, which was announced to be completed in 2016, İmamoğlu said, “Unfortunately, the Melen Dam investment, which has not been completed and is currently liquidated by its contractor, must also be completed. Since this project, which was tendered at that time in 2020 with our warnings, is below the 10% level, despite the passage of two years, the contractor's right to unilaterally terminate the contract means that the Koca Melen Dam will be completed in 2016. I have to share with our citizens the determination by us that it has stopped again.” Sharing the information that İSKİ has completed the infrastructure works around the Melen Dam to a large extent, İmamoğlu said, "Therefore, I have to state that it is essential for the necessary units of our state to take the necessary steps regarding the Melen Dam and to secure the water needs of Istanbul as soon as possible." Saying, “Istanbul has a populist and investor, democratic and participatory government at the same time,” İmamoğlu said, “In this context, I would like to point out that there is an administration in Istanbul that prevents waste and prioritizes savings. We are a team focused on solving problems and generating business. At the same time, we are an administration that takes the best steps towards the future of Istanbul and values Istanbul's spirituality and all its sensitivities in the most fundamental way. We have a lot of work to do in Istanbul," he said.

BLOODY IMAGES HAVE BEEN DATE

İSKİ General Manager Şafak Başa, who spoke at the ceremony, also shared technical information about the İstavroz Tunnel. According to the information shared by Başa; 40 thousand cubic meters of waste water produced daily by approximately 13 thousand people living in the Beylerbeyi, Burhaniye, Kirazlıtepe and Küplüce neighborhoods of Üsküdar will no longer flow into the Bosphorus from the İstavroz Stream next to the Beylerbeyi Palace. Within the scope of the studies that started in October 2020; A tunnel with a length of 598 meters and a diameter of 2200 mm was built. The works, including the connection of the existing wastewater collector and network lines to the tunnel, were completed by the end of July. Thus, the wastewater discharged into the Bosphorus began to be conveyed to the Küçüksu Wastewater Treatment Plant. In addition, the wastewater flowing into the Bosphorus from Üsküdar Hamidiye Evvel Mosque front and Kuzguncuk coastal areas was directed to the Küçüksu Treatment Plant and Üsküdar Treatment Plant by manufacturing a 500-meter-long collector. Thus, with an investment of 128 million liras, the sea discharge of the waste water flowing into the Bosphorus for many years was ended, and the images of the Bosphorus turning into a bloodbath during the Eid-al-Adha became history.
