It was stated that the burden of the Osmangazi Bridge, which was built with the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model for 1 billion 418 million dollars, has been 1 billion 2016 million dollars to the public since 1 July 275, when it was inaugurated.

CHP Deputy Chairman Ahmet Akın said, “Since its opening on July 1, 2016, 55 million 500 thousand vehicles have passed through the Osmangazi Bridge. Until August 40, 10 million 89 thousand vehicles had to pass through the bridge, which was guaranteed to pass 240 thousand vehicles a day. The warranty did not hold for 33 million 740 thousand vehicles. The burden of the bridge to the public has been 1 billion 275 million dollars. This has found the approximate cost of the bridge, and a guaranteed payment will be made for 13 more years.”

'Currency guarantees should be converted to Turkish Lira immediately'

Stating that there is 35 dollars per vehicle plus 8 percent VAT, CHP Deputy Chairman Akın stated that this amount has increased compared to the US inflation within the scope of the contracts. On top of that, there is a huge difference between the bridge fee paid by the citizen and the guarantee amount due to the depreciation of the Turkish Lira, Akın said.

Emphasizing that the Osmangazi Bridge will be operated under warranty until 2035, that is, for another 13 years, Akın said, “Foreign exchange guarantees should be converted into Turkish Lira immediately.”
