Mayor Büyükakın gave the first lesson in Kocaeli Traffic Education Park, which was put into service by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality. The facility, which is among the few traffic education centers in Turkey, aims to raise traffic awareness in a fun way to primary and secondary school students. Secretary General Balamir Gündoğdu, Deputy Secretary General Gökmen Mengüç, Derince Yunus Emre Primary School students and parents attended the first lecture given by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın.
JOINT PROJECT WITH MINISTRY OF INTERIOR
Reminding the students of the basic rules that should be known in traffic, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın said that they will continue to work to increase traffic awareness. President Büyükakın said, “It is a project that we carry out jointly with our Ministry of Interior. The Ministry is carrying out a serious awareness work to prevent loss of life and property.
ARTIFICIAL EXAMPLE OF THE REAL WORLD
President Büyükakın said, “We aim to provide basic traffic training to our children on the traffic training tracks. We created an artificial example of the real world. They learn by doing and experiencing. We aim to make our children aware of both their own safety and traffic safety at an early age. This is a park where not only our children but also their families are conscious.

We are striving to prepare all our children for the future more qualified and equipped. We find traffic education very valuable in this sense. In fact, we have given a will and contribution to the solution of the traffic safety issue in our country," he said.
THEORETICAL AND APPLIED EDUCATION
In addition to the theoretical training class for 27 people, there is a traffic training track in the Traffic Training Park. There are signalized intersections, pedestrian overpass and train level crossing on the track. There are also bicycle paths surrounding the entire track. In addition to 15 battery powered vehicles, there are 30 pedal vehicles of various sizes and 5 tandem handicapped vehicles in the park.
TRAINING BY THE POLICE DIRECTORATE
Trainings are given during working hours on weekdays. Information about Traffic Education, Traffic Signs Information, Information for Parents, First Aid Information and Traffic Information is offered. Training programs are organized in the park for special groups for pre-school, primary and secondary education, special education and different types of education, and trainings are given with the support of Kocaeli Provincial Police Department Traffic Branch personnel.
HOW TO GET EDUCATION?
Through the ebelediye.kocaeli.bel.tr online appointment system, appointments are made by schools affiliated to the Directorate of National Education or by other organizations according to their education packages, with identification information for the number of students limited to quota. While bus support is provided to schools for education, students are given certificates to commemorate the day.
CONTINUITY IS INTENDED
At the bottom of the certificates are the QR codes of the Traffic Game application that parents will download to their phones or tablets at home. Thus, the continuity of children's traffic education and their relations with the institution are made permanent.
