Attention to water consumption
Mentioning the effects of the climate crisis, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer said, “Drought is not the issue of today. It's a huge challenge, and we're going to face it more and more. Forest fires don't happen in vain. The whole world is on fire. There are huge fires everywhere. These are the causes called global warming, which somehow creates drought and magnifies the fires. In the same way, we experience flood disasters in winter due to the climate crisis," he said. Reminding that the climate crisis was not felt this much in Anatolia in the past, President Soyer called on everyone to be careful about water consumption and said: “The climate crisis is now manifesting itself in our geography as well. Until 5-10 years, you would draw water at 10 meters. Now you draw water at 200-300 meters. We are drying up, we are getting dry, we are becoming desert. You need to know this. That's why we have to be very meticulous and very careful about the use of water. We have to look at the product pattern, that is, what you produce, and turn to products that consume less water. We have to use water more economically and meticulously. We definitely have to switch to drip technologies.”
